http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=270817&cc=5901 Murdoch is Australian.
Glazer (Tampa Bay Bucs owner) has a minority share in a well known premier league team though.

Isn't the guy who owns Pompey an American born in Serbia?
And then this is the American who owned Chester FC.

Rupert Murdoch doesn't own a club either.
His company has shares in Man Utd, but he's a long long way from being the owner.

He's California-based. That doesn't necessarily mean he is American (naturalized or by birth).

I believe Murdoch or some company owned by Murdoch owns the Dodgers. And is looking to get rid of the Dodgers too.

I was talking about the guy who bought Barnsley, and not about Murdoch.

Yeah, I think it was in the Reagan era when they rushed through his citizenship so he could own some media company.

The man who purchased Barnsley is a California-based entreprenur who was born in Surrey, England, I believe.
Sean Lewis is the name, although he is rumored to be in tandem with an Icelandic consortium, hence the appointment of Gudjohn Thordarson, former Stoke City and Iceland manager.
All of this in the master plan to see Barnsley back at the top...

Murdoch was born in Austrailia but became a US Citizen in the mid 1980's when he started to buy TV stations.

Does Michael Keaton in "A Shot at Glory" count?

Somehow for the American soccer audience, "The Mighty Tykes Rise Again" just doesn't sit well with our ears. Anyway, let's hope it will be just like watching Brazil in the near future again.
