MANCHESTER United have sold young striker Giuseppe Rossi to Spanish side Villarreal.
Rossi's future had been the subject of intense debate for most of the summer after an impressive loan spell at Parma at the end of last season.

Good move for him but a truely horrendous one for Man Utd. We will have never got what he is worth, lost one of the best young players in the world and left our striking options seriously depleted before the start of the season. Not a good move by any stretch of the imagination, particularly with Smith also leaving, Tevez delayed and Saha/Solsjaer injured. It makes zero sense. I was expecting him to start tomorrow against Inter as well. Looks like we are back on the market for a striker.

Apologies to those who commented on this in the previous Rossi thread. Ordinarily I'd move them to this thread, but I'm prevented from doing so by the new and improved BigSoccer.[/rant]
Bah... really disappointed on this one. Will be even more so if we sell Smith in addition to Heinze (who is almost certainly gone). Sometimes a player's attitude has to factor into things, and all three seemed to play the United way.

Yes, Fergie has been giving hints of late about some striker whom they had a look at in the early part of the window.

Sack Fergie!
And I'm almost serious this time. He wants to leave United in a good state, with young players like Nani and Anderson to give the club a strong future. Then he sells the best young player from our youth setup in years.
I'll only understand this decision if Rossi demanded to leave because Fergie could not guarantee him a starting place. If Rossi wanted to stay and fight for a place then there are no excuses.

From Rossi's perspective its a great move because i'm sure he'll get more PT for Villareal...however the main issue i have with Fergie's decision to sell Rossi is that it marks a major departure from our policy of nurturing young "home-grown"(as in players that went thru the Academy) talent...i mean if a player like Rossi who was absolutely spectacular for the Reserves(and the 1st team when he was given a chance) cant get regular minutes it doesnt exactly bode well does it?

I'm only been this pissed off twice in relation to Man Utd and the last time was Keane getting sacked. I'm shaking with rage over here.

I don't want to think that this is so much a United decision than a player/agent decision.
Giuseppe wanted first team action, consistent first team action, and he was just not going to get it here. If Tevez does indeed come, is there anyone out there who would actually prefer Rossi out there to Rooney and Tevez? Rossi is just going to where he knows he will play and play often. It's a good move for him and that is what should ultimately matter. Good luck, Rossi.

This sucks... We better get good money for him; can't believe he isn't given a chance here.

Maybe he's not cut out for the premiership (physically). I think Fergie knows better. 11 million euros for a guy who barely featured for your first team isn't bad business. His price tag wasn't going to increase by sitting on the bench at United.

But we don't have Tevez. We might not get him for months. If we sell Smith then who do we have as a striker? Saha and Ole are both still injured.

The end of a dream. The end of the 'Busby Babes'!
Not really.
It is the end of a 16 year old bought from parma for 250,000 and sold for about 7 million pounds as a 20 year old.
good profit that.:(
I think his was a similar situation to heinze with his agents "being hard to work with" and with him acting as a angel.
otherwise i can see no reason to sell him.
what i am worried is with smith also on the verge of leaving and with saha and ole injured it leaves us with only rooney as our only fit forward.
Either tevez situation is close to be sorted out or we have another striker lined up.I Believe we will require another striker even if tevez comes.
