We should start pounding them. Maybe when the Iphone comes out in Germany they'll take care of us ;)

Did you see the game? I didn't catch it on bwin (i think they are charging for the video now). I forgot about Milchraum. 0-0 draw away at a Aachen is a decent result. A fair amount of 1.Liga experience remaining in that side. The only thing I got from the recap on Kicker was that Hofmann had to play very well in the first half.

Yes, I saw the match, but only because I live here in Germany and have Premiere. 1860 were very lucky not to concede in the first half. Hofmann made one save I'm not sure Tschauner would have made because I think Tschauner would have been out of position.

As far as 1. Bundesliga experience goes, 1860 had almost as much on the pitch with M. Hofmann (Who was given kicker's "Man of the Match"), T. Hoffmann, Bierofka, Goektan and di Salvo. Aachen had three guys on the pitch I don't recall being with them last season.

'60 played better in the second half and did indeed have a nice flurry in the end.

Guys, so far, no making fun of Gregg this season. He's played f#cking well in each match and was one of the main guys stirring things up in the second half yesterday.

I'll tell you another thing I liked. Team Manager Stefan Reuter was lobbying the ref at halftime and was firing up the boys after the match in the team huddle!

Man, I'd give anything to have him back in Dortmund. But the good thing is, I think he's going to bring '60 back to the 1. Bundesliga and there are two teams here in Germany who can beat Dortmund and my heart won't be broken.

One is 1. FC Nuernberg. Because they were my "local team" for almost 15 years.

The other is '60.

Because I enjoyed the old fan friendship, I love all the '60 fans I know now (Even the guys who were messing with me down here last year! - Thanks for getting me straight "Lionhead!") and '60 are my "local team" now.......

Also, there seemed to be a late flurry of good scoring chances by 1860 in the last few minutes, but Aachen held the score level.

If 1860 can tie the good teams (especially on the road) and beat the lesser ones, we'll be in really good shape.

There was a late flurry by 1860, but except for Goektan hitting a guy in front of an open net and a ball Nicht lost and diSalvo couldn't put in, Aachen was with right with them.

I thought Aachen were the better side overall, but '60 did more than hold their own in that seriously hostile environment.

The way '60 held up was impressive to me.

Yeah, no kidding, Tivoli is a hard place to play. This is a match 1860 would have lost last year, and the year before, usw. :D

It's also great to hear that Berhalter's had a resurgence in his defensive play, which says volumes about the coaching job Kurz is doing.

I'm hoping we get a few years with him as trainer, since to me it's pretty obvious he'll move on to bigger jobs in the future. Hopefully Dortmund doesn't come calling for Kurz and Reuter too soon, ;) I'm hungry for 1. Liga football...

This Kurz guy sounds impressive. A friend of mine knows him and thought he would do well with 1860. Glad he's right.

Kurz was inspirational as a player too. Of course, I can mostly compare him with Sammer and Doll, BVB's two ex-players as coaches.

I think Kurz is much more tactically proficient than Sammer and also a bit more than Doll. I really like what I see from Kurz so far, but we also have to remember that he had many of his players at the amateur level too, so he does have an advantage.

I don't mean that to take anything away from Kurz. As I said, I think he's very inspirational and tactically proficient. That's more than I can say for Sammer and he has a Bundesliga title as a coach to his name.......

Guys... congrats on a great start to 2007-2008! Awesome to see. The Derby could be reality in 2008-2009...

I need some assistance. According to the 1860 schedule, if I am reading this correctly, 1860 München plays at Freiburg on either Nov-23?? Is this correct? I have a mate travelling to Germany and staying in a small remote village near Neustadt. Freiburg is the closest stadium around and since he is a Chicago native, it would be cool for him to be able to see Josh Wolff in action.

The weekend dates have not been fixed yet. 1860 is definitely away to Freiburg that weekend, but it could be Fri, Sun or Mon. Nice part of Germany for your friend to visit (I used to live in Lahr/Schwartzwald).

From the 1860 site:
14. Spieltag (23.-26.11.2007): SC Freiburg – TSV 1860 München

This means that the match will be the weekend of 11/23-11/26, either on Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

The German federation (DFB) releases the schedule in chunks of something like 8 weeks at a time at some point in advance. I'll post if I hear the match date and time announced.

That's on Friday, Sunday or Monday. There are no 2. Liga matches on Saturday.

Lineup for today's pre-Wies'n match vs. FC St. Pauli!

oh man, I wish I were in München today... what a fun weekend.

Also, looks like Berhalter gave Josh Wolff some beer tapping tips from last year's Oktoberfest:

'60 up 2-1 at halftime. Goals by di Salvo (After two great passes, first from Berki to Wolff then from Wolff to di Salvo) and Berki scored the second goal himself going in and having his shot go off a Pauli defender and into the net.

Also, Torben had a header cleared off the line that the '60 players argued was over the line. The TV replays proved inconclusive.

We really don't give a shit who scored for Pauli, do we? ;)

Thanks to all who helped me with the info about tix to 1860-Freiburg. My mate is going to make to that match since it is only an hour away from where he is staying. Much appreciated!~

At least St.Pauli totally dominated the "Löwen" after the interval and proved how strong they are!

Nevertheless, congrats on the win. 1860 and Fürth are the big surprises of the league until now! Great job from Marco Kurz.

Let's see if they can keep it up. I would LOVE to see these two get promoted, but it is also way too early to seriously discuss that.

No kidding. Way too early, especially since we're a injury away from having a 18 year old goalkeeper who's only started 8 games for the U23 team. I think if 1860 can continue their form of winning against lesser teams and tying the good ones, especially on the road, they'll do fine. Plus we'll get a few good players back after the break too.

1860's got some real talent this year. This is the best I've seen them play in the 2. Liga, at least this time around. :p

As for Fürth, they seem to always be in the mix near the end of the season, but can't get over the hump. I wouldn't mind seeing them make the jump sometime too.

No lineup posted for Thursday's match in Mainz yet, but there was this juicy tidbit:

Just before the end of the Winterpause, on Saturday 26. January 2008, TSV 1860 will play their annual derby match vs. FC Bayern at Allianz Arena. :D

I think both play for the 1860 U23 team right now, but hopefully we'll see them with the main team soon.

Here's the lineup for tomorrow's match at Mainz:

This is going to be a tough one with FC Mainz and the injuries but here is wishing the best for die Löwen.
