For those concerned: Loewenboy is still alive, just way busy at work.
Conveniently missing his least favorite player's greatest day at 1860. Coincidence? :p
Nice job by the boys in hellblau today! Always important to get off to a good start.
I'd even start thinking about promotion after a few months of consistent play like this - but it's only two games (both with an opponent sent off) - we've been down this road before. I just hope that Kurz (who's turning into a really good manager) can weather the different club factions when 1860 goes through a rough patch, and they will at sometime this season.
Last time I saw 1860 on TV (in the states) was them getting absolutely pummeled at Dortmund back in 2003. It would be nice to see them again someday, just not beaten by BVB again. :D

Berhalter with two today, and I don't mean own goals. Loewenboy is going to be in trouble.
I was there. Gregg had a pretty good match. Made some mistakes, but they happen. He seems to work well with Mate in the center and with Hoffmann on the left.
I don't care who is coming back from injury. If I were Marco Kurz, I would not mess with this defensive mix. It is working.
I also thought Bierofka and Goektan were freakin' great yesterday!
All, in all, it was a battle of two very good, up and coming, YOUNG teams. I think both of these teams will make some noise in the promotion battle this season.

FCK were playing right with them and were actually the better team in the first half. I don't know what Kurz told them at halftime, but 1860 came out like a team possessed and kicked ass.

You know they will. But I liked what I saw yesterday. A team who did not back down from a challenge. Mentally tough. I liked it. I really liked it.

That match was the weekend I arrived in San Antonio from Germany! :D And don't worry, if we played today, you guys would probably kick our asses.
BVB isn't beating anyone anytime soon.....

Sadly for me the last game I can remember on TV (in canada) was a 6-1 loss in the Munich derby - '01 or '02 i think.
Good start to this season though. Hopefully they keep it up next week against Hoffenheim.

that is the first time I ever watched them on TV. The Munich derby when they got pummeled. My uncle sat me down and gave me a long talk about Bayern that day.
The last match was able to be streamed! It wasn't working for me though, hopefully we'll be able to watch a match or two, I've noticed a wider variety of matches online lately.

Maybe that defensive alignment is because Hoffmann's the only guy they trust on the left side, now that Schäfer's gone. Otherwise, Hoffmann would take over for Berhalter. I wonder if Eberlein is getting in this game too...
What happened to Schafer.......I thought he was the Left Defender for the next 10 years.....was he hurt or traded and if traded for who?

Sold to Wolfsburg. 800,000 Euros.
That's what happens when the club needs money.....

Highly rated 20 year old striker Mustafa Kucukovic has transferred from HSV to 1860 today.
Kucukovic signed a contract good through June 2011. Reuter called him "A young, talented player with potential." Reuter also said, "We are very happy he will be strengthening our squad."

Sweet. Good to see 1860 still making transfers with all that fan money. We still need an experienced defender for depth, though with a little more than a week to go before the deadline.
He replaces Fester I guess. We need a creative nickname, maybe Kuchy? :D
So what about Berhalter? :D
He seems to prove some people wrong, doesn't he?

This week.
I'm sure by Winterpause, he'll probably have made a few game-deciding blunders. The difference this year is he's paired with Mate Ghvinianidze, who's been a rock at CD and covers Gregg's marking mistakes, at least for the first two games.
What happens when Mate G. is away on Georgian NT duty? :(

So if he does bad it's only because of him and not because of bad teammates and if he doesn't do bad it's because of great teammates.
I watched the game against Lautern and he did really well and Ghvinianidze (who was rated 4 by kicker btw) didn't have to cover for him at all.
I'm not saying he won't ******** up this season only that people here don't give him credit when he deserves it.

F96, I saw two occassions that Mate had to cover for Gregg. But Gregg also returned the favor too.
This is why I said earlier in the thread that I don't care who is coming back from injury, if I were Kurz, I would not screw with that defensive alignment. Mate and Gregg are working well together.
Better than I ever saw Torben and Gregg work last season.

What do you want us to do? Scream "Gregg is the greatest!" because he finally had two good matches in a row?
I said in my first posting on the match that he had a pretty good match.

I don't dislike Berhalter, but we have to recognize what he is, despite a few good games. He's an older slow defender who relies on positioning, guile and backup help to mark players, since some of the better forwards will speed right past him and/or force him to foul.
Plus we like to poke fun at him a little bit on this thread, cause he's one of ours, a fellow Ami on our favorite club, TSV 1860 München. I'm sure when Wolff starts to lose his skill, we'll ride him a bit too. :D

I have to agree with you there. If they're less effective, then make a change, but ride it out until they do so.

Between conference calls right now so no time to say what I REALLY feel, but this is utter bollocks. If you mean me, say "LoewenBoy". Everyone knows who rides Berhalter.
And when he has done well in the past I have given him credit. Problem is: He does well SOOOOO infrequently that it seems like he never gets credit. Guess what? HE DOES SUCK. But even players who suck have good games. I told Footyfan Gregg was my Fussball Gott for the weekend. 'Nuff said? There, I gave him his props.
Now watch hims go back to screwing the pooch the rest of the season.

Yeah, it is looking to be a fun season. I just can't wait until Schroth can play! Think how good they could be with him up front and Wolff, Bierofka and Göktan feeding him the ball. :D
Plus, I just ordered my new road jersey with Wolff on the back. Odd to think that kid I saw come up with the Fire is now doing well in München. :)
It is a good signing and gives us depth at forward to ride out injuries, etc.
As for Gregg, I give him credit for being up front and in position to score two goals, but that's not his real game. His bread and butter is what he does in the back, and that's what we should judge him on.

I thought it was Austria only. I registered as a Canadian, and no video. I'll try UK. :D
