Er... so was it a draw or a victory??

Eissman doing my monthly check-in.... sounds like the lads are playing well... great to hear!
Wish I could see them on TV somehow someway!

Goalless draw Eissman.

We play at Freiburg this Sunday.

Göktan had a back operation, and can't train for 6 weeks. Hopefully he'll be back (with Schroth) after the winter break.

Check out tsv1860.de, they had a pretty drastic redesign. I like it. No live game audio (yet) but they have a nice selection of audio clips.

Freiburg should be another good test. I hope we can get a point out of it.

Thanks for the tip on the website. I like it too. The old page had been there for a few years I think.

I noticed that too. They often disguise themselves as Bayern Fans but we know who they really support.

Niice. :D

Good draw 2:2 by 1860 vs. Freiburg - they've drawn against the top two teams the last 2 weeks. Hopefully they can follow it up with a few wins before the break and solidify that 3rd spot in the table.

Also, good news: Schroth, Ledgerwood and Tschauner have all resumed training. I'd doubt that any of them get in matches before the break, but Kurz is quoted saying he'd try to get Schroth in a game beforehand, mostly for psychological reasons.

If 1860 gets these 3 and Göktan healthy when play resumes in January, Die Löwen could make some noise down the stretch. :D

That's pretty much what I've been trying to tell LoewenBoy all season! LOL!! :D

Since the winter break is soon upon us, let me pose the obvious question:

Does 1860 have any transfer cash left over? Can we expect any incoming or outgoing transfers during the break?

Outgoing no. Incoming. Not unless someone is available free and will take a cheap salary.

I don't think 1860 will rock the boat.

LoewenBoy sent me a nice breakdown over e-mail I will try to post here. I just can't change the colors like he did in the original mail. I just don't have the time right now.

I don't need colors, go ahead and post. :D

I was just asking since it seems the more successful teams in the Rückrunde usually bring in a few players during the Jan. transfer period.

However, if 1860 can get Schroth, Göktan, Eberlein and Tschauner back to health it would be like adding a few new players.

A few weeks ago, Reuter said that when Schroth would be able to play it would be like getting a new player.

Can't really say that about Goektan, Eberlein and Tschauner because they have all played a part in this first round.

And to be honest, I think 1860 would be smart to find another keeper. I'm sorry, I don't have the kind of confidence in Tschauner that some others do.

I remember the last time I saw a keeper like him. Talented, but erratic.

His name is Darius Kampa. And he's now in the Regionalliga at Unterhaching.

Here's LoewenBoy's Transfer e-mail. I didn't get it posted before because I ran out of lunch time here at work and BigSoccer is blocked during duty hours.

Sorry, but I also had no time to align the numbers.

Rumors abound right now regarding the upcoming transfer window. Below is a list of the 1860 players on the profi team out of contract in 2008, the ones in red are Stammspielers. I can see 1860 offering one or two year extensions to Hofmann, Torben, Berhalter, Schwarz as they are older players nearing career end. They are not likely to make much more $$ elsewhere and certainly won't be a 1.BL prospect of anyone. Wolff is a wild card....he has played well when healthy, but health has been an issue...injured each season of 1.5 seasons. Not sure they will renew his contract.

Of the younger kids I am pretty sure they will try to hold Burkhard, Szukala and Johnson, though holding Burkhard and Johnson will be hard. I expect another "Adler Situation" to arise with these two. Certainly a BL team, relegated BL team or promoted 2.BL team will want them. 1860 has a decent bargaining chip in that they are near the top of the table. IF they can keep form they might be able to sign them early with the hopes of promotion. Let's hope the scouts have been asleep. ;-) Ziegenbein is an enigma: he played well under Schachner's system but has not under Kurz the few times he has played. He has not been bad, just not played to his potential. He has done well for the U23s but he wants to play regular 2.BL ball. My guess is he does not resign with 1860....shame if it happens.

The U23s are a bit more difficult. Almost the entire team is made up of the 2x Pokal U19 team. I am certain that they will try like hell to resign Jungwirth. It will be interesting to see what they do with Jara as the club only has four keepers (Hofmann, Tschauner, Roessl and him). Purdy will also be an interesting case: Will they extend him? He has been a starter this season but his contract is up in June. Their defense has been good this season, they have just missed a midfield/striking spark....mostly due to the profi's raiding the team due to their injuries. Schmitt, Lercher and Leicht will likely not be offered contracts....but I could be wrong. Fink would like first team ball somewhere. Bukowski is gone....I think.

1860 does not have much $$ to play with in the transfer window and usually does not go after players then unless they are already in camp. Given the majority of their big signings are coming back from injury over the winter, it is almost as if they get a whole bunch of "free transfers" when these guys return. My contacts tell me that the feeling at 1860 is that they have held top table position with a bare-bones team, so just imagine what they will do when ALL of their big named talent is healthy and they have depth....hence, why likely no big signings this winter.

Of course......I could always be wrong. ;-)

Where did those 'Marktwert' numbers come from? Are they based on some official numbers? I assume that is the proposed transfer fee, not salary. Are there salary numbers out there on line? Thx.

The "marktwert" numbers are not official in any way. It is just an estimated transfer fee value.

I think those numbers were taken from the market value estimations on transfermarkt.de.

I'm with you Footyfan. We need another keeper. Not because I have the doubts in Tschauner that you have, but that I really think this season is it for Hofmann. He'd be an excellent coach if he does decide to hang up the gloves this year. Also, if 1860 can somehow get promoted, we'd need a much better keeper than either of our current guys to stay in the top flight.

For Berhalter, Wolff, (and a lesser extent) Purdy, I wonder if any of them would go back to the States and play in MLS next season? The only thing being that they'd need to transfer in the July window, when the MLS season is half over.
