And Free Preview until September 5th !
Channel 406 (right next to GolTV on 407).
(Evidently people don't read any of the Setanta threads - two messages posted within the past 48 hours in this Forum about Setanta not being on Dish Network even after all the posts and announcements.)

Any word on if they'll have Sentanta Extra showing excess EPL games for the 10 AM EST time slot?

Has there actually been an announcement from either of the parties? I know it's established that Setanta has been added to one of the sats on 406, and for a brief time was listed on Dish's a la carte page, but do we really know the date it will be active? I'll be up all night tonight, feverishly checking the guide to see if it's magically appeared.

I called Setanta yesterday and they didn't know the exact release date. Said it could be early next week or August 1st. Not sure if anyone really knows...

2 new HD boxes? Will they be less than $150..probably not.
Dammit, if this preview doesn't start tomorrow, I'll be highly pissed. I've been waiting for the Setanta release since July 15. All week I've been buzzing about Free Setanta for a month.

EPL Talk blog has an interview with Setanta's North American president on its podcast here. (http://cache.libsyn.com/epltalk/EPLTalk_episode77.mp3)
He says:
--"soft launch" on Dish around August 1st or 2nd. He doesn't explain that term, I guess it means they'll just turn it on one of those days with no fanfare?
--Don't call until Aug. 6 to try to subscribe because it won't be in the systems until then and the phone workers won't know what you're talking about.
--Free preview "for a couple of weeks."
--Trying to get Extra on, still in negotiations.
--Says they'll be showing Championship games, but doesn't say when or how many or if they're live/taped.
--ManU TV, Chelsea TV--no mention of Liverpool TV specifically
Edit: one more thing, he teases an impending announcement about Canada but nothing specific

I went home at lunch today and Setanta is up and running on channel 406. I can already feel the ennui lifting a bit.

Yep I am so looking forward to heading home tonight and checking out channel 406!! Been waiting a long time for Setanta to come on Dish! I did not see anything on the Dish Network web site today, but Setanta does have the Dish announcement and details on their web site. (I'm a big Aussie Rules Football fan and they carry the games--looking forward to catching them as well!!!)

Whether the free preview ends on the 5th or 9th of September, you'll still need to pay for it eventually as free previews don't last forever, so what's the big difference?

Hmm. So if you switch to Dish Network, you get Setanta for free for a month or so. Not a bad offer.
The top link mentions possible cable carriage next year as well as some offerings in HD. Not bad.

you'll never "need to pay" for something you don't want. the idea (for cheap folk like myself) is to enjoy as much "free" content as possible.
the difference is (potentially) 4 more days of free content for Dish Subscribers. not that it's a big deal, but perhaps Setanta has some good content on Sept 6, 7, 8 or 9 that might entice more people to sign up.

Dish tends to make changes on Wednesdays (such as August 1st), so the September 5th date seems more likely to me. Perhaps the 9/9 is a typo?
