Hello, this is the first time I have ever posted on
the Wizards forum.
I just want to tell the fan's in the Cauldron that
your doing a great job. It seems to me that your
numbers have grown.
Keep up the great work of supporting your Wizards.
I'm sure that the team loves your support.

they thanks, I am sure we were alot louder without LA Porra. Which btw what is the fricking point of coming to a game when you only show up at half? If they were there to support the Wizards like they are then get there on time.

I watched the broadcast and that's stretching it to say the least. The Cauldron sounds great without La Porra, especially in the first 10 minutes, but it sounds and looks much better with them, especially at the end of the match.
Are you really going to get mad at people for showing up to a Wizards game? Nothing is forcing them to come at all. They help switch up the experience and keep things fresh. Some of our chants get really annoying when done more than 3 times.
I'd like it if they showed up at the beginning of the game, but I'm not about to let it affect my enjoyment of the match. As game-day coordinator you might be in a good position to help facilitate some better communication with them before game day. Convince them it's a big match and to get there early. Let them know when we're doing a 5$ keg or two and to show up to float them with us. Plan some fun TIFO stuff.
We shouldn't be turning away fans ever if we can help it.

Seems like this was the latest that they have shown up. What's keeping them from coming in earlier?

I think yesterday was partly due to the 6pm start time... course, with a 7pm start, they're usually not in before 7:20... *shrugs*

Not wanting the argies to be in the section is one thing. Having to make room for them in the second half is another. That being said, the time of the game might have thrown them off. a week earlier and they would have been on time.

Why wouldn't you want a whole bunch more people to pack into the Cauldron that want to? It's not like it's a big deal to scoot together. Seriously people, find something somewhat important to complain about.

Relax a little bit. I don't see anyone saying they don't want more people in the Cauldron, but having to make room for a group that did not come in until the 2nd half, and then expects to stand up towards the front, is a legit complaint to me (not that we havn't help create the expectation that they can come right up front even when they come in late). Do you show up to a sold-out movie right at show time and expect everyone to move around to give you and your friends seats together??
Now, I do think their being late was most likely a by-product of the unusual start time (being at 6 instead of the normal 7). If you look at the time they came in, it would have been around their normal time for a 7 kickoff. So, I personally will cut them some slack for coming in so late this week.
Also, in case everyone didn't notice, their group was not as large as it has been previously. That can be attributed to them having to pay for their tickets now...just so everyone knows.

I'm not upset so don't tell me to relax. You and I have different definitions of sold out. If there weren't seats available they wouldn't be able to come down. The point is, there ARE seats, plenty of them in fact. When they come down, it just fills in the section.
In a theater, when more people show up and the existing patrons are spread out all over, ushers also come and ask people to scoot together to make room for those who came in.
Instead of complaining about people who are coming into the section, why don't we do what we can to make them more part of the group and try to compel them to join us earlier and tailgate with us?

I agree with this completely. What do you suggest?

Finding our best spanish speaker and having them be kind of an official liason would be a good idea.
Maybe we could work with Leo to find out who coordinates a lot of La Porra and have those two talk about what we'd like to do. I think I know who it is already for the most part, and his English is pretty good.
We could shoot for a date down the road with the latest start time. A Saturday would be best. We always seem to be able to finish the kegs and pay for the ones we get on our own. Let's get two kegs and explicitly invite them over in kind of a welcome to the Cauldron type fashion.
For this one event, as our guests, maybe don't even charge them the 5$ donation that is kind of expected. They can pay for the food if they want to eat.
If we can get them to show up early to tailgate, we should be able to plan some sort of simple TIFO in advance before the game. We could even ask for their help in trying to plan it. That might make them more excited to participate. I'd love to help out, and I'm sure with a little recruitment other people would as well.
The other idea that I think might be more simple and more effective is just to have a mass of 20+ Cauldronites go over and crash their tailgate when they get there. We just try to talk to them, maybe with a beer in hand to give, and convince them how cool it would sound if we all marched in together.

We have games left on these days of the week
Sun - NE
Wed - Chicago
Sat - Columbs 9/15
Thur - LALALA
Fri - DC
5 games, 5 different days of the week... no comment ....
I say we have 3 very good chances to do this, but one is the last home game of the season (DC). One could crash their TailGate on Sun 8/19 and work on inviting them for the 9/15 game. or whatever, someone could just get a kegger on their own and have it ready for the Sun NE game.

Right or wrong Jeff, many people in the Cauldron are rubbed the wrong way by some of the things the Argies do. My biggest complaints are:
1) Coming in late and pushing into seats where people are already there. It's not like they ask around. They chant their way down to the section, come to the bottom rows and ask/tell people to move or let them in.
2) Expecting free tickets. I've been told that is solved, but I saw some of them standing outside the stadium right at kickoff (I was working until 6PM and got to the game 2 minutes in). They were there, and the way I saw it it seems like they were wanting in for free.
3) They screw up a LOT of our chants. They can't get our beats through their heads. Even something loud, clear and simple like "Ohhhhh, KC Wiz...." or our version of "Ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, ole, o-LA!", they join in and screw up the beat. I've stood right next to them, pounded the beat out on their drums, clap it right in their face, sing it right to them, stood on my chair and coordinated them. Yet, as soon as I stop spoon feeding them, they screw up the beat.
I'm not saying I don't want them there. I'm saying I wish they could respect what all of us have put together and help make it better. In some ways they are, in some ways they aren't. Maybe that's part of the deal, we need to accept the good with the bad. But hey, we have the right to complain about it.

i thought we sounded great last game, and it was easier to keep chants going throught the Cauldron for longer periods of the game. I think this had a lot to do with the fact that they came in SO late that t alot of the newcomers had a chance to see what we do, and that there was a much smaller group of La 12/whatever they are calling themselves.
I sat across the field at halfline when we played COlorado two weeks ago, and the Cauldron was 10 times louder without the Argies. I'm being literal here, not exagerating. Everyone around me could make out all the lyrics to all the songs and chants and were clapping and singing. 38 minutes in, the Argies come in and the Cauldron started to sound like a quite buzz in the background. Drumbeats and that's about it.

Not only that, but the're too complex. THat's ok if you have an entrenched fan culture and the entire stadium knows all the chants and songs, but simplicity and familiarity is key when you're trying to build an atmosphere from scratch and encourage participation.

But hey, we have the right to complain about it.
Seems like people are taking full advantage of that right. I just wish people spent as much time trying to make the section better as people have spent complaining about the new additions. But hey, that's what we do best.
I'm sure we'll manage to alienate them entirely in the quest to make it all about us, and the 50 of us can be happy that the Cauldron's "toes weren't stepped on".
To those that think the Cauldron is louder without the Argies forget that 30 minutes in, we probably have less than 50% participation for each chant from the English speakers. Fatigue is as big of an issue as people not knowing the chants. By the end of the game, it's not even close as to which version of the group is louder. The combined group looks and sounds so much better.
If we had 20 people with as much passion as they have, it wouldn't even be an issue.
