Last nite was the last pre-season game before the start of the Apertura '07. It was a 2-0 victory over Haiti, game played at Miami's Orange Bowl.
Around 8000 peeps showed up to the game, mostly Boca supporters. It was nice to see the Boca family in exile show support to the team. Surprisingly, the Haitian community, which is pretty large in Miami but not as large as the Ole chick thought it was, came out in pretty small numbers. In addition, I can assess that the same songs you hear every Sunday of the local tournament, or for Libertadores, at the Bombonera, were the ones you heard last nite. Claudita Villapun (http://www.ole.clarin.com/notas/2007/07/29/01467528.html) needs to get laid. ;) Asi, asi como mueve la colita ... si no la mueve la tiene mojadita ....
Boca regulated the game and missed several chances, primarily Palermo who had at least 3 or 4 clear goal chances. Mondaini and Datolo had a couple other ones, as well as a nice chip, towards the end of the game, from Boselli looked like a goal .
It was interesting to see the 4-4-2 without Roman. Both Datolo and Neri alternated in attack, creating most of the football on the left side of attack. El Tucu is slowly gaining his shape and reached the endline constantly. He is no Clemente, in terms of speed, but once again showed his powerful shot and accurate crossing. The left side was a lot more active in attack, yet the yorugua Gonzales reached the endline by surprise too, well supported by Ledesma.
The team started with:
Migliore
Gonzales - Silvestre - Maidana - Krupoviesa
Ledesma - Battaglia - Neri - Datolo
Mondaini - Palermo

At the start of the 2nd half, Maidana left his place to youngster Roncaglia. And with 20 minutes to go, youngster Nicolas Gaitan subbed Neri and Boselli came in for Mondaini.
Gladly impressed with Gaitan. He always showed himself to receive the ball, he has some characteristics of Datolo, left footed and likes to take on rivals. The most important detail is that he shows much more accurate control of the ball and doesn't "panic" in his last touch as we all know happens with Datolo, as well as his movement and ball receiving in traffic is confident. He made a great cross from right to left that shows his long ball accuracy is better than Datolo's (we all could probably know that) and took the corners and a free kick with ease ... nothing like Jesus.
Probably Pochi Chavez, injured from his shoulder at the end of the Clausura, will be ahead of him in the enganche role ... moreso if Carrusca arrives, but the kid showed that he can be an interesting addition to the squad this season as well as in years to come.
All in all, after a few beers, and watching the team lift the American Airlines trophy, the "Twelve", Miami's version of La 12, gave the players a warm good-bye and wished them luck in bringing those 2 international trophies back to Argentina. The team greeted back with the confidence of the new King of Cups.
