Click here (http://na.setanta.com/portal/systemcontent/page?open&systemtitle=cable) to send a request to your cable company to add Setanta Sports.

They need to know we're out here.

Sent. Hoping Insight Cable adds this to their lineup.

I wish GolTV had a similar option on their site.

They don't have it right for my area either. I have Comcast not Adelphia. How can they get something like that wrong?

They don't have it right for my area either. I have Comcast not Adelphia. How can they get something like that wrong? They include this line with each company page:

"The cable industry is in flux. If there is any inaccuracy regarding the information we provide, please email sschannel@setanta.com with your feedback. "

There is just too much good content on Setanta for soccer fans to not have it.

I have Time Warner and use ITVN to get Setanta. http://www.itvn.com/index.html?s=12&p=4&w=100085&t=0&c=151

Only had it a few days but it works pretty well. You have to have a high speed internet connection though, and it helps to use a router. If you are into the rugby you need to know they blackout southern hemisphere games over ITVN (something about not having IP broadcast rights to it), but I've been able to watch several good games the last few days and look forward to all the Scottish, Premiership and Championship coverage.

It is 15 bucks a month, and occasionally I have noticed they have technical difficulties. Still, it's worth having as I like to watch AFL, Rugby and the obvious soccer coverage.

They also have it wrong in my area. I sent an email to the listed address.

I'll let my cable company know they should add it but I doubt they will listen. I'm sure they probably think they dont need to add it since they offer 2 soccer channels already(Goltv & FSC). I'm always skeptical if these emails campaigns really work. Based on my dealings with these cable companies I get the impression they add whatever channels THEY want and couldnt care less what the customer wants. If they add Setanta I'd be thrilled but I'm not holding my breath.

Sent, hopefully Comcast will take notice soon, although I doubt it.

Sent 3 of them, having Comcast is nice with GOLTV and FSC but I want to watch my Chelsea play most of the time instead of half DAMMIT!

Funny you say "what the customer wants", singular.

Do you think Setanta is really what other customers (plural) in your cable area want? How many people watch the Premiership in your area? And how many people are interested in paying $15/month for the Premiership?

Do you think your cable company will add a channel based on ONE SINGLE CUSTOMER wants? What makes better business sense to them? add Setanta USA or add a porn PPV channel? which channel do you think more customers want?

I wasnt refering to Setanta when I said that. I'm well aware its a "niche" channel.

Here is a link (http://money.cnn.com/2007/08/01/news/international/pluggedin_boyle_setanta.fortune/) with a good discussion of Setanta's business plans. I thought that this paragraph was particularly interesting:

"Meanwhile, in the United States, the next big step is cutting a distribution deal with a big cable system like Comcast (Charts), Charter or Time Warner (Charts, Fortune 500). "Eventually, it has to happen," says Benchmark's Kreiz, whose favorite soccer team is Manchester United. No deal is in place yet, but look for cable systems to test the waters with pay-per-view offerings in soccer-mad markets like Chicago and New England first."

I think that would be a very interesting start, Setanta PPV; at least it would allow the cable companies to gauge demand without commiting the resources to bringing 1 or 2 Setanta channels on-line. Although could they price it right? If monthly service is $15, you can't charge $9.95 for a single premiership or Ligue 1 match.

As for contacting Comcast, I have already done that a few times without Comcast showing an iota of interest. I don't work for Benchmark Capital or Goldman Sachs, and those two immensely successful companies shouldn't depend on me to get them cable carriage or a better revenue split.

Setanta could do itself a favor by simply setting up a better web interface--ITVN and Setanta Broadband are, in my opinion, completely inadequate.

Hell, I paid $25 on Comcast to watch the Man United/Chelsea FA Cup Final this past May.

I've sent Comcast several requests to add Setanta in my area, and all have fallen on deaf ears. Hopefully soon they listen and provide us with what we all want. :)

I have some new hope regarding Sentanta coming to cable systems in the USA. This is a link to an EPL Talk episode with an interview with Shane
O' Rourke about various things to dowith Sentana.

During the interview he was asked about Sentanta coming to cable systems. I could have heard it wrong, as I was doing something else at the time, but I am pretty sure I heard him say they were in talks with Verizon FIOS TV, which is slowly expanding their network. Right now they are avaialble in most of NJ FLA, VA and NY. I'm pretty sure he mentioned that they are also talking with Comcast. he said they are hoping to have Sentanta sports available on cable systems come next year.

As a football fan that lives in a area where dishes are not the best way to go and who is relying on ITVN right now this is good news and gives me some hope that come next year I might be able to enjoy the full Senatnta sporrts programming and also be able to watch the rugby from the Southern hemisphere that is currently blacked out on ITVN. Everybody who is in this situation - keep your fingers crossed!

I have Setanta Broadband and I'm reasonably happy with it actually, now that it has Premier League games.

But yes, cable would be better. 300K video has its limits.

There are quite a few al a carte channels on TW in NYC that probably get minimal sign up. Those are $5 a month average price.

Lets assume they have 1K subscribers and the price is split 50:50 with the channel. thats only 2.5K each per month. 30K a year.

My assumption is that Setanta would get a bare minimum of 10K subscribers if the revenue of $15 a month was split 50:50 then each would get 75K a month 900K a year.

From a business perspective i know which one id go for.
