Oliver Tse is trying to get someone to buy soccertv.com from him. You should consider buying it. If nothing else, you're not banned from BigSoccer like that whackjob.

*laughs*

A) I'm broke (and planning a vacation, which is why I'm broke)
B) I wouldn't have the time to update it properly..
C) This was more for my own thought processes then anything. We sure do get a metric shiftpot of The Beautiful Game in the USA

Some corrections/additions to your list:

MLS - games on HDNet, not HDTV

Mexico- Azteca America shares Mexican League coverage with the Univision networks. Fox Sports Espanol show one game each Saturday (that they sublease from Azteca America). That is the same game shown on FSC a day or two later.

Champions League - to be more specific on the ESPN coverage: ESPNDeportes (live and taped), ESPN2 (live), ESPNClassic (taped)

UEFA Supercup- Fox Soccer Channel (When FSC won the rights for the UEFA Cup package that showed all matches from the quarterfinal until the final, they also got the Supercup, which is the Champions League winner v. the UEFA Cup winner on August 31, as part of the deal. As for the UEFA Cup package itslef, I don't know if it was for more than one year, so it may be up for bid again.)

Brazil - also only in Portugese is the 24-hour Brazilian soccer channel, PFC Internacional

Argentina - Fox Sports Espanol (live) as well as FSC

Copa Libertadores - Fox Sports Espanol

Copa Sudamericana - Fox Sports Espanol

Europe WCQ- Setanta (live and tape), FSC, Setanta Premium PPV

South American WCQ - GOLTV(18 matches), PPV (72 matches)

Women's World Cup - ESPN2, ESPNU, TeleFutura

FIFA Under-17 World Cup - ESPNU, Galavision, ESPN360 (broadband)

UNCAF Torneo Interclubes (Central American team championship) - GOLTV

UNCAF (Central American country championship) - Galavision

Friendlies:

US - ESPN2, FSC, ussoccer.com (broadband)
England, Brazil, Jamaica - FSC
(GOLTV and Setanta carry various friendlies as well, but FSC has specific contracts in place to carry the countries home friendlies mentioned above)

* NOTE: The FSE matches have English commentary via SAP, as well as Spanish.

I'm sure there's more that I omitted. Hope this is helpful.

Plenty of smaller European country soccer leagues on ethnic-specific channels via Globecast (Galaxy 25 satellite) as well as Home2US (AMC4):

Russian Premier League - RTR Sports (2-3 games per week)
Romanian League - TVR International (1-2 games per week)
Serbian League - Pink TV (1 game per round)
Croatian League - Picture of Croatia (1 same-day-delayed game per round)
Turkish League - DFH Sports (4 live games per round + UEFA Cup)
* Polish League(?) - There are 3 Polish channels on Globecast but not sure of coverage
Israeli League - The Israeli Channel (DishNetwork) - 1 game per round + UEFA Cup
Azerbaijan League - AZTV (mostly live)

Outside of Europe, there is lots live coverage on the Globecast platform of the Saudi, Kuwaiti, Syrian, Palestinian and other Arab leagues. Also plenty of Asian and African Champions League coverage as well as major tournaments such as the Asian Cup.

Also, one more addition to what was said on top, "TV5" has French League coverage as well as France's National team games. Available on DishNetwork.

"TV5" usually shows a Saturday morning match of Ligue 1. In addition to Dish, it is available on Verizon FIOS and some Time Warner Cable systems.

I installed Globecast a year ago (for Setanta) and at that time was asking around for any information regarding the other (primarily FTA) stations regarding soccer programming. Finally, someone has provided such information.:) In addition to those stations mentioned, I must add Abu Dhabi Sports, which mainly shows many live games from the Middle East, and this summer showed Asian Cup and the WAFF Cup (Western Asian Football Federation) from Jordon (Iran defeated Iraq in the final), as well as live Copa America and U-20 matches. I have previously seen Asian Champions League matches on the channel, as well as delayed broadcasts of European Qualifiers and Italian soccer. While their on-air and website schedule used to be in both Arabic and English, it is now only in Arabic, so I now only know when they have soccer matches scheduled, but do not know what match it will be.

ON TVR (Romania), I have watched live matches involving the home country for Euro 2008 Qualification and the Under-21 Team.

The two Globecast stations I have mentioned are free-to-air (FTA), and AZTV (Azerbaijan) is as well, although I have not watched any games on there yet. Now that I know they provide coverage, I will look for matches. The others mentioned above, however, are encrypted and have to be subscribed to.

Thanks....I hope you will continue to post listings you know about...

or perhaps point me to where I can find out for myself...

(I just love the "added value" of having Globecast...it lets me rationalize the extra cost of purchasing and installing the dish!):)

I was channel surfing on Globecast tonight to find AZTV for tomorrow's game and I discovered another contribution for the list:

DunaTV (Hungary) - Today they showed the UEFA Champions League qualifier between home team DVSC-TEVA (Debrechen, Hungary) and Elfsborg. While the game was in Hungarian, the post-game interviews with Elfsborg's(Sweden) players and coach were in English.

Unfortunately, a World TV pay channel and I don't think I will subscribe for the $22.95 charge. But I appreciate the listings...it gives all interested parties the chance to know about TV matches not listed on the 'mainstream' listing sites. I hope you will keep them coming.

SoccerAction used to have a site (www.socceraction.com) that would rival soccertv.com. His listings of niche European games were more comprehensive than soccertv's.

SoccerAction: what happened to your site? You haven't listed games for years.

If you are into the satellite hobby, wait until the World Cup qualifying campaign starts in 2008. You will be treated with an abundance of WCQ from all over the world. Games that you don't normally see in the U.S. Forget about the Brasil X Uruguay, Argentina X Peru, England X Slovenia, Finland X Italy, these are games easily accessible in the U.S.

I am talking about Jordan X Uzbekistan, S. Korea X Thailand, Libya X Guinea, Tunisia X Togo, etc. These are the gems if you happen to be interested in AFC or CAF World Cup quals.

IA5 has so many Asian and African ethnic channels that any World Cup Qual match day in Asia/Africa would be like a fiesta...

How many of these games are on stations beamed for broadcast, and how many are raw feeds?

I am assuming that you would need either multiple dishes or a movable dish to get all of the games (I'm a novice when it comes to satellite technology so tell me if I am wrong). I got a Globecast dish last year to get Setanta in addition to my cable soccer stations, and am now enjoying the occasional extra game I get here and there on the "ethnic" channels. During lunch today, I watched the first half of Neftchi v. Ried UEFA Cup 2nd leg on AZTV (thanks to socceraction informing me via this thread) and am recording the rest for viewing when I get back home.

What would it entail (both in necessary equipment and cost of equipment and installs) to "upgrade" to a system that provides the extra games? Are you generally limited anyway by broadcasts being encrypted?

In any event, while I would have loved to see socceraction's website, in its absence the next best thing would be to keep a thread alive that tells others who are interested about these games on lesser-known stations that will be telecast.

Here is the situation as far as Greek Soccer availability is concerned for 2007-08 season.

Superleague: (Season starts August 25, 2007)

ERT World (Dishnetwork) will show the home games of the following teams: Panathinaikos Athens, Olympiakos Piraeus, Aris Thessaloniki, Skoda Xanthi and Astras Tripolis.

Antenna Satellite (Dishnetwork) will show the home games of the following teams: PAOK Thessaloniki, AEK Athens

Greek Cup:

Alpha International (DirecTV), the parent company Alpha TV has the Greek Cup TV rights in Greece, and they should also show the games on their satellite channel Alpha International, but that has not been confirmed yet.

National Team:

Setanta Premium will show the Greek national team Euro 2008 qualifying games on their premium channel, which is available at your local bar or restaurant. Those games will also be shown on tape delayed basis on the Setanta Sports Channel, which is available on DirecTV, Dishnetwork and Globecast.

For complete schedules of Greek soccer games all over the world check out my site here:

I ended socceraction.com 2-3 years ago as it became too time consuming. Oliver does a decent enough job but there are tons of other games from smaller leagues out there and I'll try to contribute here what I can.

Regarding satellite feeds, its a "Catch 22" proposition. For the last few years I've been telling people that I find my BUD (Big Ugly Dish) very useful to this day but could not recommend anybody buy one because there are simply no guarantees what will be available weekend to weekend, let alone season to season. I have had a BUD since 1987. Things have changed since then as all analog feeds have gone digital and lately new encryption methods have been introduced. I can tell you that, for example, I could watch 6-7 La Liga games on a specific satellite every weekend before the encryption changed. There are Central and South American channels (real channels - not feeds) that have regular Spanish, Italian and Premiership games. Usually they are the top games which are on FSC, Setanta, RAI, etc. but occasionally you can watch the odd game that nobody else has. There is little Champions League fed these days (mostly fiber) but I thank God and normally have a full house on days of qualifiers from Europe. But all of this requires a large dish (12 footer here) with a "horizon-to-horizon" motor that allows a view all the way to at least 21' West.

Overall, having Pizza Dish coverage from the US and Canada will give you more soccer than you can watch and frankly, I wouldn't buy a BUD today knowing what I know, but still glad I have one......

If I may answer a question directed to Rangers, the WCQ qualifiers from Africa and Asia would be on regular channels. Not feeds.

SA

PS. Here is a typical conundrum presented by a big dish: While I'm typing this, I'm watching Barca TV. It just showed up today out of the blue. Will it be here during their Asian Tour?? Will it be here all season (like Real Madrid TV was available for the last 2-3 years before it disappeared for good recently)??? Will it be gone tomorrow???? You never know....

Thanks for the info....for now, the increased soccer coverage I got when I switched from Comcast to FIOS (I did not have EPNU, Galavision, Fox Sports en Espanol before...these stations join FSC, GOLTV, ESPN2, Univision, TeleFutura, TElemundo, etc.) plus the Globecast stations (Setanta, Abu Dhabi Sports, etc.) should keep me well occupied.

I just completed watching the UEFA Cup match that I recorded on AZTV....and put on Abu Dhabi sports...They are showing the Amsterdam tournament...the second half of Ajax-Atletico Madrid is on as I write...

Interestingly, Abu Dhabi Sports have the rights to the French Ligue 1. They are showing Bordeaux - Lens on Saturday and Lyon - Auxerre on Sunday. I would assume that Abu Dhabi Sports has a different feed to the US, just like Dubai Sports on this same platform did a few years ago. In other words, their rights only apply to their home country and therefore alternate programing is sent over here while the game will only be available on Arabsat. With nobody buying the rights to the Amsterdam Tournament, they are permitted to show it on their Western Hemisphere feed.

Although a long shot, tune into Abu Dhabi Sports on Saturday to see what happens when Bordeaux and Lens kickoff at 2pm ET.
