well - hardly - Phil Jackson's team lost LAST YEAR in the Western Conf Finals of NBA -
if this is really quoting Bianchi correctly, then you can say about him the same joke about American Football coaches - "He's smart enough to be really good at it - And dumb enough to think its really important"
Actually the Spurs beat the Lakers in the Western Confrence Semifinals.

Bikanchi came out empty handed, lost the local league to RIVER and the Libertadores. It does suprize me what he said about not knowing about recieving the 2nd place medals, that doesnt sound like him,but he shouldnt have said that comment.
The way I see it,Argentina cant screw up in the Copa America,if so,its most definitly Bielsa will get fired(I hope) and Bianchi resigned from being Bocas head coach and will be the number 1 candidato to take over the head coach position.Perfect timing.

Bianchi left Boca because he got tired of having his team dismantled every year. How could he have stayed after they just dismantled the defense for next season? he is a champion because he is a smart man. and he knows he can't expect to just to bring in new players and boom there you have a new defense and they're contenders again.

Look, River and Boca lose quality guys every year at this time. Bianchi knows this as well as anyone else. River, over the last few years, has had poor Aperturas but been taking the Clausura crown. They've needed time to recover from the loss of players and integration of new ones. Not to mention the shot in the arm of Leo coming in this time around.
Perhaps Bianchi doesn't see the next bunch of Boca kids coming up to be something he can mold into a good squad right away. Or there are disagreements about whom to acquire. Maybe simply the grind of Sudiamericana, Apertura, Libertadores, Clausura has burned him out for the time being. That and butting heads with the hierarchy might have pushed Bianchi over the edge.
The national squad sitting out there certainly looms in the background. But I cannot wish for the guys and kids on that team to perform disastrously at Copa America just for the sake of a coaching change. Does Bianchi?
We'll see what happens in Peru. If Bielsa disgraces himself, then so be it. But I wish him and them all the success in the world, I don't care who's waiting in the wings.

I am still very deeply depressed that Carlos Bianchi" The Greatest Soccer Coach in the World" turned down the opportunity to coach for Argentina. I have no idea what the hell happened and why. I know this thread may have already been posted a few times I just don't understand.
Someone enlighten me please...

Carlos wanted a break from soccer to be with his family. We'll that's what he said, he also dose not have a good relationship with AFA president Julio Grondona.

it is rumored that he is going to either Dept. Cali or Atl. Nacional after they fail to crown themselves champs in Colombia. :p but seriously, I think América (Mexico) wants him right?
