Comparing a 20 years old to East Frisias all-time legend is blasphemy.

Great slow-motion scene with Ailton from the early 2000s (Ailton wanted to give the ball to a striker, but only Eilts was free ... )

That is awesome! I've never seen that before. Why weren't the defenders engaging Ailton?

If they offer enough I guess I wouldn't mind letting him go. He's been so injury prone that I don't know if he can keep up his good form.

He is very impressive this season. But i still don't think he is good enough to play for Liverpool

He has been a Werder Bremener since C-Junior. Schaaf has literally rescued his career as he was so injury prone before n wasn't even a 4th choice striker before the season started.

Schaaf has given the kid many chances. I hope he can realize this

They were confused, because Ailton took the speed out of the attack and no dangerous scorer was around ... except Dieter Eilts. :D

Lads, I start a classic goal thread, because I have some others in mind. :)

Just leave out anything between 1993 and 1999 against dortumund, thank you...:p

Hope he stays fit, this could be his season.

According to various sources, He has " a German father and an English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England) mother" But why is he having a surname like HUNT?

Maybe because it is also a German name? I mean, there live more than twice as many Hunts in Germany than ... Mertesackers. ;)

That how the "Hunts" are locally distributed in Germany:

Good article on Colombian striker John Jairo Mosquera who seems to have his breakthrough season. We loaned him to Union Berlin (2. Bundesliga) for him to get match practice and so far, he has done great. His goal is to return to us and establish himself in Bremen. If he continues like this, he will.

Talented player with a great character, potential to become a darling of the fans. Allofs made the right choice not to sell him, even if the past few years have been difficult for him because he couldn't play for our second team, and had to be loaned to a number of (exotic) clubs all around Europe. Maybe next season, it's finally time for him to come back home to Bremen and become a regular member of our first team squad.

Another brace for Testroet today. Our second team won their away match in Heidenheim. If he continues like this, I can see him being promoted to the first team sooner than many of us expected. Very good talent with bags of potential.

The team visited the Bremer Freimarkt yesterday and had a lot of fun apparently... :)

Yesterday Marko Marin was in the football show "Sportclub". They talked with him about Werder, his teammates, the national team and his homepage, especially about the comic character "Marko, the magic dwarf".

Take a look: Marko, the magic dwarf (http://www.marko-marin.de/index.php?id=45)

Borowski is likely to play Thursday (and probably Sunday?)

Does he actually fit into the current line-up? Who comes out?

Bargfrede seems the likely choice; but his playing 5 positions at a time makes him quite valuable at this point...

Borowski will supposingly come in for Bargfrede during the match. Schaaf won´t let him play from the beginning, I believe that he has trust in the team that has played very successful the last couple of weeks.

BTW: I finally got internet in my new flat :)

It's known that Schaaf is not fond of rotation. Looking at the situation in Stuttgart, for example, there is probably good reason to, knowing that rotation often can do more harm than good, especially when it's overdone at the beginning of the season when a team has to 'grow' first.

However, what I've been asking myself is how long this relatively young team of ours can keep up this level without signs of fatigue. True, we are one of the most experienced Bundesliga clubs when it comes to playing in Europe, we usually play the most matches of all teams every season, so most of our players are used to it. But young players tend to be inconsistent, and the past few weeks have been quite exhausting, two matches a week the norm.

Fortunately, we do have good depth in our squad this season, especially once all the injured players are fit. But we shouldn't take it for granted that these guys, these kids, keep performing consistently every three days. It's remarkable, may it long continue. And hopefully, the squad players will be up to the job once a few of them need a break.
