Nice find, Billy. Where was this listed?

You should send this on to Bernie Miklasz. I know he's out of town now covering Rick Hummel's induction to the Hall of Fame, but if you get this in front of him, he may mention it on the radio, and may also mention it in next Saturday's "Bernie Bits" section. Having him help spread the word will be key.

Sun., Aug. 12 Colorado Rapids -Reserve Team(Scr.) St. Louis, Mo. 7 pm

It looks to me like the game might be at SLU or another St. Louis site and not at SIUE. The other games say "HOME" if they play at SIUE.

I am there. I'm going to try and bring my alma-maters team with me. At least 6 or 7 will come with me. I think I can get a total of at least a dozen people to go.

Do we need a sign with the supporters logo and maybe something that says, "Garber, We're Ready"

We should bring signs, a camera crew....anything!

I work every Sunday evening, so I doubt I can make it, but I will see how I can help!

SB,

Do we get tickets at the gate or in advance? If in advance, where?

To add on to the Rapids game.....

SLU plays Indiana Sept. 15th at 7pm in STL. That would be another profile event for us to be at, and some great soccer to boot! Keep that on the back burner for now...

More details stolen from stlsoccer.net

The Colorado Rapids Reserves will be coming to St. Louis on August 12th to play Division II power Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in an exhibition match at 6:00pm at Ralph Korte Stadium on SIUE’s campus. This will be an opportunity for the St. Louis community to enjoy quality soccer and get a glimpse of potential MLS stars of the future.

Tickets for the game will be $2 for adults, no charge for children, and will include a gift bag for all youngsters in attendance compliments of Major League Soccer and Gatorade. Barbeque and tailgating will begin at 5:00pm on the east side of the stadium.

Other festivities will include halftime recognition of all Missouri Cup Champions for 2007, as well as a hospitality tent reserved for adults in attendance. In addition, there will be an autograph opportunity with members of the Rapids as well as former MLS and World Cup star Mike Sorber.

Former Saint Louis University standout and All-American John DiRaimondo is currently a member of the Colorado Rapids and will be making the trip to St. Louis. John enjoyed an exceptional career at SLU concluding in 2006 as a finalist for the MAC Player of the Year Award.

With the possibility of an MLS franchise being awarded to the St. Louis area in the near future, this will be an opportunity for the community to show their support and desire to see professional soccer return!

More on the Colorado Rapids Reserves

The Colorado Rapids Reserves are professionals that are part of the 28-man roster that each MLS team is allowed to carry on their full team. The reserve system is designed to give players that are part of the everyday training with the full team a chance to see more game time if they are currently not playing as much during league play. However, the reserve system is also useful for those players that may be regular starters during league play but due to various circumstances may have seen their playing time decrease over a period of time. The reserve system is critical for MLS clubs to ensure that all players on the 28-man roster are prepared to play at any given time. This is especially true during the summer months when teams see additional games added to their schedule and injuries occur.

More on Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville Soccer

SIUE has produced 9 All-Americans since 2001 and former standout, Mike Banner was taken by the Chicago Fire in the 3rd round of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.

The 2007 Cougars look to continue the tradition of winning with some top players returning to their starting line up. Centerback, Zach Bauer, and forward, Ross Beveridge will be key players for this year’s team.

At first glance this looks life perfect scheduling, I have tickets to the Cards-Cubs game the day before. At second glance though, my schedule insists I'm back in B-town on that day.

But maybe I can steal a Billiken statue while I'm in St. Louis and present it to our team as a victory trophy when they get back to IU instead of going to the game...............................;)

just remember, while you're trying to steal a billiken, show some respect. after all, he is the #1 mascot in all of college sports. way better than your #43 hoosier

That is if I put any stock in a magazine I've never heard of before. Worse yet, they said Indianan in their comments, which isn't even a word and proves their ignorance.

Besides IU doesn't have a mascot anyway, just a nickname. But we still ranked 43rd!
