Whats the story on him..... Is Boca going to keep him???

Im not a fan of this guy, his silly fouls always leads him into getting cards. i just dont think he is good enough for boca.

For the time bieng, he will stay at Boca, unless the club finds him an alternative. He wants to stay and fight for a spot.

If there is something positive about him is that he arrived to Boca prior to the Intercontinental against Milan, which Boca won. He also arrived to Internacional prior to the Club World Cup, which Inter won by beating Barza in the final. This could mean something? :o

Vargas could pretty much fill the same role that Orteman had last semester. He is not slower than Orteman ... has experience and character, and has good ball control.

I would give him a thumbs up in terms of being a power sub. Or when the team has 2 games per week in order to have the team less saturated towards mid-December.

Caranta
Ibarra-Caceres-Morel-Monzon
Ledesma-Battaglia-Vargas
Riquelme
Palermo-Palacio

eso seria mi equipo ideal

The problem with this lineup is that it's a red card waiting to happen. But if they can keep their cool, it is a very nice lineup. Lots of fight and recovery in midfield, to protect the tridente. And, Monzon and Ibarra can be free to attack on the flanks because we have three midfielders who can cover well. We give up height if we take out Paletta, but against most South American teams it won't matter that much.

well the hope is that Vargas will 1) smarten up and 2) not have to commit hiself to silly fouls if he has Ledesma and Battaglia in there as well. But yes that is always a problem with Vargas. But IMO Tata hasn't shown much and it's been a long time since Cardozo has done anything worthwhile. I also think that this would be a very good lineup against stronger teams as opposed to games against say San Martin (SJ) when we can play more offensive lineup. This one would be better against a River, a Sao Paolo or against a European club (crosses fingers)

The midfield is also pretty slow. But I like Vargas, he always plays with huevos even though he makes alot of stupid decisions. I wouldn't mind starting him over Gonzalez.

It's been a problem for both Vargas and Ledesma. That is one worry about that midfield.

red card for ledesma or vargas?

I admit that Vargas is card prone every crucial match

I think he's been one of Boca's best players the last few seasons. He always plays with heart. his main problem is that he tends to commit stupid fouls and tends to get carded a lot but he's cut down on that a bit.

he's one of the better players Boca has. He is very consistent and you can tell the difference when the team plays without him (Battaglia is left alone having to defend the entire midfield).

He has a reputation for getting silly reds/yellows, but I think he has improved on that lately. In fact, some of the yellow/red cards he has gotten lately have been more because of reputation as opposed to it actually being an awful foul. Example: if it was other players, some of the reds would have just been yellows and the yellows just fouls
