tfl.gov is suggesting the central line fom Loughton to Holborn. Then to Arsenal. You think this is right. Max journey time 50 min. Now I know this is now and not on a weekend day and a match day. We are planning on getting to the stadium area very early anyways to hang out see the sights and enjoy some pints anyways. So I'm not worried about missing you(Rick).

Russell Square to Arsenal takes about 15-20 minutes when you include waiting for trains etc. After all the faffing about in the station to change from central to piccadilly it will be more than 50 minutes. I'd say you're looking at that from Loughton to Holborn personally.

Other than the match and hanging out around the area there on Sun. I have Friday & Sat. to hang out in London. There are all types of websites with tourista BS on it. But I would trust those that have been, on this board before those. Any must see areas, places, museums, pubs, etc. that I should check out. First time in London.

Depending on the weather, one thing I'd highly recommend is taking a walk along the Thames following the "Queen's Walk". Take the tube to Waterloo and walk towards the London Eye. Then just follow the river all the way down to Tower Bridge. There's tons of stuff to see, or you can just people watch. I crossed at Tower Bridge and made my way up through the city to St. Paul's. It was an awesome way to spend an afternoon.

Hey guys, just wondering about the logistics of watching a game at the Tavern. I'm completely free tomorrow (a miracle considering this job) and think Ill head up to London early. I'd like to catch the game with some good atmosphere, and thought the Tavern would be just the thing.
How early do I need to get there for a decent view of a screen? Anything to know before I go? (It is a home match, I realize, but I don't know how this affects things)
Thanks.
(oh and questions to come soon enough about the away trip to Anfield...)

We should be there for 10.30, it's fairly busy then but you will still get a good view.

If you have a day to kill, head over to Soccernet.com and check the schedules for the lower divisions. Chances are you can see a game at QPR, West Ham, Millwall, Palace, Charlton, Fulham, Leyton Orient, Brentford, or some other team in London (I guess there are some others). Make it a full weekend of sport.
If you can't handle that, and are looking for some free things, I second the recommendation of the walk along the river (night is better). The London Eye is kind of neat too, though most don't admit they like it. Portabello Road in Notting Hill is a good market to poke around.
Or you can do a day trip on the train to Cambridge or the Oxford Tube up to Oxford. Only about an hour away and you can easily walk around for a few hours up there and kill some time.

I always check fixtures365.co.uk It has updated fixtures listed for all the divisions, from Premier League down to the conference, and includes all cups, friendlies, and internationals.

Ok guys. I am going to be at the match this Saturday with Birmingham City. I leave for London tonight (Alaska tonight). What kind of attire to people usually go for during the match? I AM wearing my Bergkamp Jersey from '98 but I noticed that in the winter months people aren't as flamboyent with wearing their Arsenal gear as they would be in the warmer months. Would anything more than a jersey be over done? I don't want to look conspicuous. :) lol
BTW, I am not that self conscious, I just don't know. Going to a sporting events here sometimes people end up looking like someone else because of everything they wear in support of their team.
Thanks,
Andrew

People still wear their jerseys, they just have big black wool coats on over them, along with Arsenal scarves. It's chilly outside. You do have a warm coat to bring, don't ya? ;)

You're from Alaska. All you need are some shorts and sandals for London!:p
