Still, I don't really get this transfer. We're deep in midfield, we're especially deep in DM.
He could play LB but we still have Tarnat and I think Tarnat wants to play in his last season.

Schulz wants to play, he could sit on the bench at Werder, so why join us?

Maybe he will join Spartak Moskau? They offer him a 4-years-contract with 2,5 Mio € per year. If I were him I would not hesitate and take the cash. :p

That's you. Maybe he doesn't wish to live in Russia.

Russian babes are hot. Then add in loads of cash and a chance to get all chummy with the mafia, and he could find himself playing for Chelsea or Schalke. ;)

After watching Schulz today and against Bochum I really think you should keep him.
He was disastrous.

I have no idea who he should push out of the starting eleven and I doubt that Halfar is worse than him.

God, I hope Hecking was watching as well.

Based on these matches i also wouldn´t want to sign him,
but don´t underestimate him.
He has quality, sadly he can´t show it currently.

The signing is for the Regionalliga team.
There Pellatz, Fickentscher and te Loeke
fight for the starting spot between the posts.

Aston Villa (a team in some small northwestern european country that is too puny for me to remember their name) offers 10 million euro for Per Mertesacker. But that's just not gonna happen.

They'd know that we Germans don't like the english humour. ;)

Yes, that´s the only explanation.
Klaus Allofs would have been rolling on the floor when he really got
that offer. Mertesacker has potential to be in the top 5 when he continues developing
and is already better than Pepe, who joined Madrid for 30 million €.

Is that bid from aston villa for mertesacker a skysports rumour or real?

If it's real, then villa are incredibly stupid.

If it's a rumour, then skysports are so damn arrogant and ignorant of anything outside of england spain and italy.

Mertesacker is ALREADY in the top 5 in the world and will be in the top 1 in 2 years time.

They in england must be so upset at getting beaten by a third string german team that they are "putting the germans back in their place" by linking mertesacker with aston villa.

Of course, not that they'd know that he's actually twice as good as the real madrid defender that plays next to him. Not that they'd ever entertain that idea.

So Aston Villa isn't allowed to make any offers for players because you think Villa
is not 'good enough' for them?

I would advise you to get off your high horse.

With the money in the Premier League right now, it would be almost safe to say that he would probably make more money playing for AV than he would in Bremen, which would make an offer/inquiry legitimate from Villa's side.

Mertesacker to Aston Villa makes probably as much sense as Milan Baros to Bremen, but the Werder fans still had hopes didn't they?

No i just said that aston villa are stupid to offer just 10 million euros for him if it's true.

The rest of my post was directed at skysports.

Yes he'll probably earn more at villa, but bremen are a better team with better opportunities there in terms of winning titles and doing well in the CL. Not everyone would move for money.

What do you mean baros to bremen was unlikely? I wasn't actually following that so I don't know.

Your logic doesn't work.

That's like saying "If Daniel Alves is worth over €30 million, then Jensen should cost 30 million as well, and if Torres is worth over 30 million, then Klose should be over 30 million as well."

dude you're overanalysing. i just meant there is NO way alloffs will let him go for 10 million. 40 million is more like what he might accept but even then no as bremen are not in any financial difficulty at all

he is simply saying that Mertesacker is woth MUUUUCh more than 10 million.....they simply did not make a reasonable offer...

Dude, you're weird. And clearly a bit out of touch with reality.

I compare to this. Aston Villa is not good enough for Mertesacker.

That´s no high horse, high horse is the arrogance of British media,
that they think, that world class player, would move to a midtable
EPL team for 10 million €, because it´s the PL and the player
is only from the BL.

Dude, you're weird.

Weird is not even being from Germany and being stuck on "Alles für Deutschland" like squid.

When Klose moves for 15 million tops, why should a defender move for more?
Starting national team players move for that much money.

If Bayern would move for Mertesacker, they would pay no more than they paid for Klose, which pretty much represents the market worth for me.Look at Berbatov, he went to Spurs from Leverkusen 16 mil, and is now estimated at 30.

Mertesacker as a player is clearly worth more than 10 mil. However the Bundesliga as a platform doesn't offer much worth increasing "hype", besides exceptions like Hargreaves who suddenly became the bee's knees in England after the World Cup.
