saw a picture in the paper that showed the start of construction. not really sure how i feel about this building. all residential as well

the Trump Tower is going to be done in 2009, so the Chicago skyline is going to have some new buildings in the near future.

although, i think it won't have the spire on it. City Council said no to that, i think.

The Spire looks incredible. It recalls the John Hancock tower and serves as a beacon to the city.
Trump's tower is a tasteless piece of shit. It's just big. We don't need another giant, character-less tower in Chicago. The Sears Tower is enough.

That's Trump's M.O. Find me one project by that guy anywhere that has the least bit of taste.

Definitely. Apparently, Trump also pissed off several of the tenants by tearing up their contracts and giving the space to tenants who would pay more. Or so I've heard.
It's already at least 20 or 30 stories up (been a while since I've checked), and it looks terrible. Congrats, Donald Trump: you managed to replace the old Sun-Times building with something uglier, a feat that nobody believed was possible.

I figured I would update this thread with the news that construction on the Spire has been halted and there are two leins right now.
