View Full Version : Ricardo Clark and Ante Razov should be on Gold Cup roster

With the play of Ricardo Clark and Ante Razov I think it would be wise on Bruce Arena's part to make sure these guys are on the Gold Cup roster. I think Ricardo Clark is ready to actually come on and make a difference on this team. I think with the dismal play of Pablo Mastroeni I think Clark would be much more of a impact player than Pablo. On the other hand to argue Ante Razov's case with the overated Jovan Koravski not contributing nothing at all I would replace him with Ante.

world class strikes by both of them today. i was very glad for the Chicago fans to see it end that way. Tough way for Tim Howard to lose though, he made some amazing saves.
I agree about Razov, there has to be a spot for a guy scoring at his rate, same as Twellman.

Agreed. I don't need to say more but I just can't resist. Both the Metros and Chicago have some guys that could very well be on the rosters of the 2006 WC. Clark is looking extremely confident, fast, and ready to kick some azz. Ante is delivering the goals and making the plays EXACTLY THE WAY ARENA WISHES KIROVSKI WOULD. Time to shake up some roster spots and see what guys that are obviously as raw and as capable as Howard is, only Ante is already a proven vet.

Clark could use some seasoning in some friendlies before he gets called up for a real live-fire tournament IMHO. He definitely has skills though and its only a matter of time before he gets called up. He's our D-mid of the future.
I agree on Razov however. He seems to be on an absolute tear in MLS lately and scored a rocket of a goal today against my Metros to win the game in OT.Although I'm not his biggest fan I've always favored Razov over Kirovski. The bottom line is he may be one-dimensional but he puts the ball in the net when it counts and Kirovski doesn't.

Woud hardly call Clarks strike world class. It was a nice finish, hard and low, but it wasnt that special. Very nice finish by Razov, though Arena still hasnt learned that Ante is a leftie.
I think Clark needs more seasoning in MLS. Hes got a lot of potential, but he just seems to be not quite ready yet for the Nats to me. Needs more time to learn how to read the game better, as he gets caught out of position more often than Id like, and isnt as insightful in where to be as Id like.
what do u exactly call a world class goal? half volley lazer from midfield?

i just have a feeling that this might be the last chance for kirovski...the bruce is giving him one more chance to prove he belongs.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Clark played the whole field tonight and spent a long time up top and some time wide. He did it all today all, all over. More experience like that and he could become the on field leader for the Nats.

You'll find on BigSoccer that an MLS player, specifically an American MLS player can never, ever score a "world class" goal. It's always "nothing you don't see 10 times a week in the Belarus 3rd division."

Wolde Harris bicycle, off the crossbar then hit the turf, should have counted but linesman f'd up the call.
Their have been quite a few class goals scored in MLS, I just dont think Clark's was that outstanding. It was nice, but didnt make me stand up and go wow like some goals this year in MLS have.

Clark has adjusted well to MLS. However, as someone else mentioned, he is not quite there yet. Bradley has him all over the field though, and that is going to do nothing but help him long term. The talent is there, and I definitely think that he's the dmid of the future.
MLS season,U20 WC, 2nd round of Olympic qualifying, The Olympics, some friendlies here and there and voila--I can see him next year starting to get time for us in WC qualifying.
Razov is a definite improvement over Jovan IMHO.

I think the firendlies are a good idea, and I think you might want to accelerate Clark's timetable just a touch because he can play two positions (right mid and d-mid) that we're not exactly loaded at.

Razov is on a tear, and if the USMNT was playing a game for the end of the world, he might make the roster. But Arena has seen enough of Razov to know, though he can contribute at least against weaker competition, that McBride, Wolff, Mathis and Donovan offer more over the long haul against better opposition.
As for Clark, I thought this was the weakest performance of his that I have seen. He really was chasing DeMarcus Beasley most of the game, without being able to get much of the ball. As long as Bob Bradley doesn't trust him to play without Richie Williams, I doubt we will see Arena give him a try at dmid, at least until the end of the MLS season anyway.

In some parts I might agree with you, I am sick an tired to see Kiro on the national team wasting time and opportunities that should be gone to somebody else....But would it be better to work for the future of soccer what about if we give the chance to some of the new kids, just few minutes on the game you know Adu, and some of the other kids that have work really hard.... But Ante Razov...gime a break

No reason to have Wolff ahead of Razov at this point. If anyone needs more "seasoning," its Josh Wolff. God bless him, but he's not playing on the same level at the moment. Razov certainly deserves a call up at this point.

Arena has no interest in Razov. He's hot at the moment against MLS competition, but so what? There are much better options.

The problem here is that call ups for the US are not a reward for good play, they are to get the team ready for 2006. Clark is 20, Razov is 29. Huge difference. Razov was not good enough at 28 in the eyes of Bruce A, so what is the likelihood he will be good enough at 32-3? Stil, he is playing well, and it is a matter of what the options are.But also keep in mind that if tearing up MLS is the criterion, Twellman is also scoring a lot in MLS and he is 22-3.
