Game just finished 1-1. Crystal Palace tied it in the 64th minute with a goal by Alan Lee. Overall, a good result in my opinion, especially coming away from home and being out-shot 16-7. Always tough to be leading much of the game then draw but overall it sounded like 1-1 was a very fair result.

Now on to Gillingham for a League Cup game on Tuesday.

yes a good result, from the commentary, it looked like we could of gone up 2-0 in the first half.

hopefully gillingham won't be tough, they won today 5-0 over swindon.

same old story as last year.... score 1st, but give up a late goal... in this case it wasnt ALL that late, but still... would be nice to seal a win every now and then...

Ah.. if we only had Dietmar Van Nostril Boy on the field for us...

It was a decent game with both sides creating chances. We should have gone in at half time 2 or 3 up but for poor finishing and an excellent save. Palace were better in the second and a draw was probably a fair result. We played some good football at times and did create good chances but didn't have anyone to finish them, Luggy really has to try and get a goalscorer in on loan. Was disappointed when Duguid was brought on just after conceding, it looked very much like Sturrock was happy with a point when we could have won it. Still, positive signs, we did not look like a relegation team based on that performance, I know that you can't tell much from the first game of the season but I'm pretty pleased. Our fans made a fair amount of noise, there were around 1,400 there I believe. It was so good to be watching football again, I've been missing it so much although Selhurst Park is far from the ideal place to see a game, it's uncomfortable and the views obstructed by large pillars.

Ed.... what place did CP finish last year??? I dont like the thought of holding on for a point though.... say what you will about ol whats his name from a few years ago... he played to win...

anyway... it will be interesting to see how we fair this year... hopefully no where near the bottom....

I think they came 15th. As for how we'll do this year, I'd say bottom half but not relegated, I think there are at least three worse teams in the division, but I'm not very confident. We need a goalscorer, Bradley Wright Phillips may be it but he's out for six weeks and he's never been the most prolific striker. Hopefully Luggy will come up with a brilliant loan or two like last year and we'll be fine.

Van Nostril Boy..... he could become a cult hero for Argyle... it would be funny to see if Argyle take hold of that and do something else with it... use it in their adverts or billboards or something... real funny ad...

Well, it looks like Argyle's cup run is not going to last very long.

After controlling the game for much of the first half (according to the radio broadcast), Gillingham just scored twice in a two-minute span right before halftime to take a 2-0 lead right before the break (43rd- and 45th-minute scores, I believe).

Plymouth get one back. Summerfield scores on a free kick from just outside the box right after the break. 2-1 Gillingham. If Plymouth can continue to keep control of the game, I could definitely see them get one more.

Just to be clear, my last post wasn't saying I was giving up, just that it looked bleak. ;)

Mackie put it six inches wide of the post halfway through the four minutes of injury time, Argyle fall 2-1.

QPR next, at home on Saturday.

Rumours that Argyle are about to sign 1/2/3 players, 2 of the players are probably Alan Gow and Cillian Sheridan both of these players have been rumoured for a number of days but supposedly they are both in Plymouth today.

Alan Gow would be a signing from Glasgow Rangers for 200,000 pounds, Cillian Sheridan would be a loan from Glasgow Celtic. Gow has been in Plymouth before, he had a medical and the deal was agreed but there has been problems in his personal fees (salaries) Luggy has supposedly given him until tonight to accept the deal. Sheridan wants to come Celtic manager wants him to go but there had been an internal problem at Celtic in allowing him to go it is assumed that has now been settled.

The 3rd player have'nt got the foggiest who it might be.

Time will tell.

we certainly get a lot of players from Scotland... i know Lug is from there, but dont english players want to play here? OR... is the CCC a step up from the SPL?

Sheridan has signed

I think the main reason that the scottish players do come to English football is the money, Aberdeen one of the bigger premier teams in Scotland said there was no way that they could pay the salaries that Maclean and Patterson were being paid at Plymouth when there was rumours of those 2 going there. The main reason that English players dont want to go to Plymouth is "it's to far away" also their other halves complain that they are to far away from their families.

Someone like Gallagher has probably got 20 teams within a 50-100 mile radius of where he lives so in alot of cases he would'nt even have to move. same as someone from the London area has so many teams to choose from.

Hopefully Sheridan combined with Gow will provide the goals we so desperately need. I made a very late decision today to go to the first home game on Saturday, as it was so late it seems all the seats on the train have been reserved so I may be standing all the way down and back which wouldn't be fun. Still, six and a half hours of misery on Worst Late Western is worth it to see Argyle.

Wow, they actually sell standing tickets on long-distance trains there? They definitely do not do that here in America (either you sit or you don't get on the train). Now that's called devotion. :) Hopefully you will not have to stand the whole way.

As for the signings, I think Sheridan will be a good one. Don't know much about Gow.
