After the intentions of getting Chelito Delgado are cooling off, at least until next year, Boca is turning to Di Maria instead.
I recall that River got a priority on Di Maria when they got the 3 player combo last semester.
Will be interesting to see what happens now. According to La Red's reporter covering Boca, the deal for Di Maria could be completed in the next 48 hrs.

******** that shit.. Every time there is a jewel in the Argentine league, Boca have to take him. Hopefully Central (or the player himself) decide not to transfer him to Boca.
How much do you think they will sell him for? I don't imagine them selling him cheaply. Before they used to sell players to Boca because they would accept dimes, but now the other teams are becoming smarter and selling players for millions. I doubt they will let him go for a cheap price: they know he is an amazing player that could be worth a lot in the future.

The only player we basically took was Marco Ruben. 1 player.. woooow! Cristian Villagra? They could have kept him for all I care. Juan Marcelo Ojeda? Good player, but he wasn't really a goalkeeper I would pay $1,400,000 for. If we are going to spend that on a keeper, I would have preferred to negociate with Montoya.
As for Boca, I was talking about them because they've taken Palacio, Bilos, Morel Rodriguez, and like 4 million other players. Every time there is a player doing well in the Argentine league, Boca is ready to take him.

Boca is about to offer 6 million Euros,= 9 million US$ for 80% of the transfer.
Arsenal, the English club not the Grondona's team, is also after him.
We'll see. Boca is going all out for him.

Why? He's great but Boca already have a million forwards and Boselli is having a great pre-season.
Boca should be more focused on either keeping Riquelme and if that's not possible getting a replacement for him. We should have gotten Insua back insted of letting him go to America.

Riquelme will most probably stay.
As to Di Maria, the kid has great future, but a very interesting present already. He will have a good selling price at any given point. He is seen as a player that can play the left side of mifield, the enganche role ( ala Insua who wasn't exactly the typical playmaker) or even as a supporting forward.
The first offer was for US$ 6.5 million ... Boca is ready to go to the 6.5 million Euros that Central is said to want for the player.
Presently, Boca only has 4 forwards: Palermo, Palacio, Boselli and Mondaini. That is far from being enuff ... Boca has 3 competitions this year. They need to rotate at some point ... and have to hedge against any sort of injury to their forwards during the season.
Remember when Barza's Laporta went to Bs As to talk with Macri last year? Well, there they discussed working closely in terms of players for the future. In other words, a steep transaction like this one most probably has been discussed with the Barza peeps ... something similar to the Luizao deal. But in Luizao's case, Russo is not sure he needs another CD, at least he can't assure him playing time. That could stop the deal. That wouldn't be the case with Di Maria ...
It is more than a coincidence the "UNICEF" logo. ;)

What about Marioni?

So basically Boca could buy Di Maria and then later sell him to Barca? Is that the case?

Hey Doc.
Marioni's back in Mexico, with Atlas I think.
I don't blame he wasn't getting any playing time.

Didn't know that. I guess it makes more sense that they're going for Di Maria now.

He's going to Arsenal.
Argentina Under-20s World Cup winner Angel Di Maria claims his negotiations with a view to signing for Arsenal are going well.

The 19-year-old midfielder reports his club Rosario Central are also keen on striking a deal with the Gunners.
Di Maria said: 'They [Arsenal] were speaking with me, and all is going well - not only on personal terms but also the talks with Rosario Central.
'It would be great, especially if it benefits my family and Rosario Central. I would like that all to be resolved as soon as possible, because the Argentinian season begins in two weeks.'

I heard both interviews he conceded radio stations in Argentina. He never said he spoje to Arsenal. He mentioned that the newspapers in Rosario spoke of an interest from Arsenal. Yet the club, and most importantly the judge, knows nothing, nor has he spoken to Arsenal.
He would like to go there ... that he said. And also that he would feel fine staying until December at Central and then going to Arsenal.
The fact is, the club is run by a judge, as they are coming back from intervention for financial crisis ... not bankrupcy yet.
Boca's President handed Central's president the oficial offer for Di Maria. That is the only offer that Central has received, as the judge hasn't recieved anything.
Could be he ends up at Arsenal ... but as of today, nothing official was dealt by the judge. Without the judge's conscent, he can't go anywhere. Some speculate that the newspapers in Rosario have been mentioning Arsenal as a way to hurry up Boca to get him. Those papers have close ties with the clubs and barra bravas ... the latter who determine who plays and who doesn't. Rosario is much more complex that you could imagine. Truuuuuust me. ;)

Yes, Central sold Di Maria and Andres Diaz to Benfica.
Central will get 6 million Euros for Di Maria and Andres Diaz ... keeping 20% of Di Maria and 50% of Diaz.
The players will travel to Portugal tomorrow.

He's pretty good. Did you watch the U-20 WC? He got a chance to be a starter because of injuries and he scored some key goals.

Do you think he will be part of Argentina's senior national team in the future? I hear this kid is highly-rated, I don't want my hopes to get too high up.
Oh and how good is that Andres Diaz guy? I haven't heard much of him..
Thanks.

Maybe not in the near future because Argentina currently has ridiculous depth in the forwards department but I think he can definitely mature into a great player. I think if he can develop into a good #9 I think he has a chance with the senior squad.
