I'm moving to KC this weekend and had posted something over in the Wizards forum, but was wondering if there are any KC or near to KC Gooners out there.

I'm starting off in corporate housing for two months in Overland Park as I search to buy a house. My office is south of The Plaza a few miles.

Wondering if anyone meets up at a pub for matches or will I have to take the 1 hour flight to Chicago :D

Hope to hear that there are a couple of you at a minimum.

Cheers!

Dave P.

I lived in Kansas City for ten years and loved it. I moved out to Colorado so i can't help you with the games, but i think you will love the city. Good luck

I hear a lot of people end up moving to Colorado from KC - maybe I should have just moved there first :D

Thanks! I know there's at least one out there, but not sure how many others.

If anyone finds that they will be in KC and there's a match on - let me know. I just upgraded to a 42 inch Plasma, but with the move think I'm going to get a 60 inch for the basement family room - so you're always welcome to stop for a couple of pints and watch on the big screen.

I just hope FSC, Setanta and GOL all get HD channels sooner than laster.

ESPN has shown some games in HD and it's sweet.

How far away is that?

I'm going to find it hard to follow the Wizards over the Galaxy, but since they are in different divisions I guess I can support both until the finals.

Do you know any good places to watch EPL matches at all?

I know I will get them all at home, but still it's good to know where any good pubs are.

Wichita is about 3 hours SW of Overland Park.

I'm curious to know if there are any good pubs to catch some matches in KC as well. I live in Minneapolis, but my job necessitates that I spend a week (M-F) each month in KC. I was just there last week, but I'll PM you if you want to maybe meet up somewhere next time I'm in town toward the end of August. I usually get a hotel room in Overland Park when I'm in town, so we'll see if it works out. It it does, I'll buy the drinks...

I grew up in KC- moved to Chicago following college... Great town- you'll have a great time! I go back every Christmas to visit my in-laws and high school friends and am constantly amazed by the amount of growth taking place, especially on the north side and in Overland Park/Johnson County area.

Unfortunately can't help with a bar- lived there for about 15 years but have been gone since 2001...

And, you can root for the Wizards. It's ok. I was at the first Wizards game ever, and it's a great team to pull for. Just don't expect Galaxy type crowds in Arrowhead!

Most of us like The Embassy, a bar downtown to watch games. Although, I've only watched USMNT matches there, so I'm not sure about their EPL coverage, but they're a soccer-only bar, so I'm sure they'll have them on.

And yes, many of us here in KC love Arsenal :)

Great to hear. We might just have to get some meet ups going for matches. I will find the right place and get them to show the matches for sure. I'll find a pub owner who will pull it off.

I'll have to check our Arsenal America list to see how many are members as well.

It's been great in San Diego - meeting up with SPLARA, Dan D, NSADHU, and the the rest of the Gooners. I need to keep my Arsenal fix - I'll be sure to have all the stations at home as well.

I'm fairly certain that the Embassy owners will bend over backwards to get people in. They've been MORE than accomodating for whatever we've wanted to watch before.

But yes, we need to meet up for the games.

When we get things going for EPL matches we will certainly let you know - maybe if there's a big match it would be worth coming up.

I used to drive 70 miles to the HDC to watch Galaxy matches. 1 hour is no big deal.

We will see what we can get started at the Embassy.

I'd drive it to meet up with other Gooners and watch matches, heck yeah it'd be worth it lol.

I'm in OP. I was thinking about starting a similar thread as I haven't been able to find an Arsenal watch site for the big matches. Don't know where the Embassy is but if they'll show the Gunners games, I'm there -- especially for matches that aren't on Fox SC or GolTV.

I just made the opposite move from Kansas cIty to chicago. I used to watch at home mostly. I tried to get in touch with other gooners through arsenal america but never got any reply to my post. I watched a few games at O' dowd's on the plaza, but I was sitting alone in an Arsenal shirt barely able to see the TV. Before I moved some one told me that a lot of british expats watch downtown at the Quaff. I think its off Broadway. Never made it down there myself.

On another note where do Chicago Gooner's meet. I just moved to Streeterville downtown 3 weeks ago.

Dude, you have entered Arsenal America Mecca...THE GLOBE!
http://www.theglobepub.com/

It's authentic...owned by Brits! Good food and damn fine beer selection
AND plenty of TVs.

It is your new home. Make sure you walk up to a bunch of Gooners, I guarantee you will know them from BigSoccer and will have a great time.
Tons of really great people and always a good crowd.

as Catfish has posted, the Globe is the place.
