I have been watching most highlights of the major EPL teams this summer, but Nani's goal yesterday left me a bit quizzical. Here is the clip http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2lqu3_shenzhen-man-utd-03-nani_sport

Should Cristiano Ronaldo have been flagged for offsides? It appears to me that he is blocking the goalies view of the ball. What is your take on it?

FIFA and USSF and I would consider that a goal.

The goalie did dive the correct way as soon as the ball was kicked. I doubt even if that attacker was not there the goalie would have saved it since it was well placed shot.

One of the replays was from behind the net. It appears that Ronaldo was to the side of the play and did not block the 'keeper's view. I also saw that the CR was in a good position to tell.

I think the one from behind the net shows it easily could be argued for offside, especially in USSF view. Ronaldo is not really moving, but he does screen the keepers view, however he is also pretty far out from the keeper.

I'd be interested in hearing more opinions on this one.

As an aside, the same sight the above link takes you to shows a few goals, Ronaldo's goal to make it 5-0 should have been called back for offside.

Being that far from the keeper and off to the side I don't see that as blocking the keepers view. The keepers reaction wasn't delayed or anything he seemed to be seeing play fine and Renaldo gained no advantage from that position so I'd say good goal.
