Danny Boyle's latest sounds interesting. Mild spoilers included in this review:

I love zombie flicks. Yes, I even liked "Resident Evil." Can't wait to see this one.

I have had it at home for a long time.....
This came out about 8 months ago, didn't it? Or is this like "The 51'st State" and "Bend it like Beckham"where it gets to the USA about a year later

Bingo. Came out today.
I read about it when I was in England back in March and have been looking forward to it since then.

The reviews that I've read so far have been very good.
Think I'll take it in.

I saw it last night. Immediately after the movie, I thought, "That wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great." Then I let the movie "digest" a bit. After thinking about the plot, the actors, and the movie's message, I decided that this film really stands out among the "zombie" genre. And that's because it's really not about the zombies at all. In fact, the zombies aren't the centerpiece of the film like they are in all of the Romero "Dead" films. Rather, the film emphasizes how the uninfected people in the movie are the real monsters. This message comes across with the most impact during the last 30 minutes of the film.

WHo cares what it says man. Its all about the explosions and how much tits and ass I get to see. Was there any of that in this movie?
I do remember seeing a B movie like 15 years ago about the same topic. I think it was called "Night of the COmet" or some crap like that, where everyone goes out to watch a comet pass by one night only to be killed or mutated and only a couple of kids who spent their night in their basement(along with a couple of other peeps) get to live.

If that's what you're looking for, you're going to be disappointed. This movie doesn't seek to be your typical zombie b-movie.
Here's the violence/sex tally:
Explosions - 1
T and A - 0 (unless you count bra and panties as T and A).
Attempted rapes - 2
Blood splatters - Too many to count.
Infected people vomiting blood - 3 or 4 times.
The fun thing about the infected people in this movie is that they don't just lumber around aimlessly. Rather, they come running.

Saw it last night and thought it rocked. Danny Boyle is a genius. Camera work was excellent, especially around London where it really caught the essence of loneliness.
The infected people looked completely mad, not just brain-dead zombies.
Was a little unrealistic that Jim, who was a bit of a *************** at the start of the film managed to take out 9 trained soldiers.
Do you think it really was the whole world that got infected or just England?

Just Great Britain - the Island was quarantined. I think that was the whole purpose of the jet fighter, from another country, at the end of the film.

Um, that was an RAF fighter, not a fighter from somewhere else. And it was mentioned in the movie that the virus had spread to New York and Paris. So I'm not sure that the quarantine theory is correct.

That was my point. There is no answer. Yes, they say the infection spread to New York and Paris and yet I thought it was an american accent in the jet at the end.
I for one can't see how in this day of modern communication how an outbreak like that could be allowed to spread across the english channel let alone the atlantic.
Oh well, it's only a film I suppose.

Or do you think that either city would let a plane full of people with "rage" land? And then deplane? Remember, it took over a person in like twenty seconds. I can just imagine the air traffic controller communicating with the captain, who responds with a series of grunts, screams and wheezes.
"British Airways Flight 666 - you are cleared to land."

This movie sucks do not waste your money going to see it. I have several problems with this movie. First of all the main character is supposedly in a coma when the infection takes hold; why isn't he killed right away? If he were to live through the intial outbreak how in the hell did he live through the 28 days it took him to wake up. I mean the guy would definitely die from lack of water...no one was there w/ an IV. All of the people that were infected apparently disappear...wouldnt the streets be crowded w/ them still. The zombies or whatever they are called apparently don't have to eat either and can survive something like 60 some days before they starve to death. This movie was not scary in the least bit and was almost laughable.

GOD BLESS YOU!!
I've been thinking about that movie off and on since I saw it in the mid-80's. It wasn't so much the plot or anything precise that I remembered -- but more it was the creepiness of being left all alone on earth and the visual images the movie left in my head.
Yeah, it was a B movie, but the creepiness has lingered with me for years. And of course, this movie definately brought back those feelings.

I just got through seeing this today, so here's my thoughts on a few things ...
The Quarantine: Just from speculation and bits and pieces of information throughout the movie, it seems like their government lied to the people, telling them the virus had spread to NYC and Paris as a way to contain them. Only because the mad man in the military 'jail' was rambling about it, something to the extent of 'how did a blood-borne virus get to other places? Across the sea? In the air?" (It does make sense that the world would do something as cruel as letting an island's population, even if it is England, die horribly in order to let the rest of the world survive.)
I also think the main character gives in to the very primal urges he was so against in the beginning. He goes from horrified when the chick hacks the other white guy to death when he becomes infected to becoming maniacal himself when he kills the (uninfected) soldier with his bare hands, by thrusting his thumbs into his eyes. I don't think it was so much a 'ooh, he killed bad ass military pricks' so much as demonstrating the pure, unbridled rage that he finally unleashed.
Or something like that. I think I'm going to see it again.

Points well taken. I do think, however, that while it would be difficult for the virus to spread to the Western Hemisphere, it might not be so difficult for it to spread to the European continent and Asia. I think the gist of the movie is that we don't know for sure whether the UK has been quarantined.

I wish I could get my 8 bucks back. I thought that was the worst movie I've seen since The Cell.

Sorry, I cant really remember now about the origin of the fighter jet and the spread of the virus, because I saw the movie when it first came out over here.
