Messi and Aguero. :D
Dunno... Maybe Aguero is still too young. I was not very impressed by his performance at the Sub-20. Of course, he got the golden boot and all, but as the main striker for the team that wins the tournament, that's quite normal.
I was expecting to see a much greater difference between him and other players, but fact is Maxi Morales impressed me more. Maybe because of the hype surrounding El Kun, which is partly deserved and partly not.
I think he has a very bright future and might turn "Maradonesque", but for the moment, I would prefer a more established striker in the NT.

I agree, Aguero did not impress me too much this tournament. A couple nice goals, but overall Banega was the man of the tourny, and should have been given the golden ball.

You guys are being harsh. Yes Banega was Argentina's best player and it's criminal he didn't win another trophy but Aguero still had 6 goals(no pk's) and 3 assists in 7 games. That's impressive anyway you look at it. Especially since some of the goals were golazos. He did disappear a bit in the semi's and quarters but he still had a good tournament.

1st of all the kid is playing CF! which is not his usual position! 2nd of all he just helped the team win their 6th world cup! damn give him credit stop criticising every single aspect! every player will dissapear in a game or two its nature! and thats why we have 11 on the field not 1!

Well said.
I get the impression some people expect every player to play brilliantly for evey minute of every single game.

Well, no one here is denying his talent. The question was whether he should get more time in the senior team in the short future. And seeing how he was often owned by defenders who were Sub-20, as well as the fact that he's not actually doing wonders at Atleti, I can't help but prefering him more established players like Tevez, Crespo, Messi, Saviola, etc...
This said, I'm convinced he will become one of our most important players, but rather in a year or two, once he will grow more experience and muscle.

hes not getting owned by anyone! everytime he has the ball there are 2 or 3 defenders on him! and sometimes he actually expose 2 together! most of what the coaches say is mark Aguero and leave the rest of Argentina! and a big part is because hes playing CF and thats not his role! so hes not a crespo type who will expose defenders by moving around thats not Aguero's game! hes more of a give me the ball and ill help create! he likes to get back and get the ball not wait for it! before the u-20 championship he wasnt happy with his role at Atletico! he actually commented about it and said i wish the coach would play me in my position! id be better!

He has to score regularly at Atletico before being considered for first choice. Until then, he's still a prospect.

The question to really be asked is with so much new young talent, and so many people being asked to take on more verteran leadership roles while the rest of the (chockers) go out. Who will start which positions
Remember Messi and Aguero are naturally midfielders. I see them becoming more part of the midfield with Benega and Mascherano while Tevez/Saviola take on a more prominent role, whilte we look for a new taller striker with power. Higuain and Zarate have as much height as you can get with skill compared to the others, that can equal milito and crespo's physical build.
Crespo, Milito are done. I don't think Lavezzi and Pavone will have an impact when it's time for the World Cup.
Remember many changes happen and by the time the next youth world champs come a year before the World Cup we may have another "Messi" we will be shouting for to enter the squad. Remember after 2002 when the new squad was starting how many people came and went the first year.

Just one thing, I dont think Zarate has the height. I just see him as another Messi, Aguero, Saviola type player, just not as good (yet) IMO.

Ok not sure why we still need senior players like Crespo...we should polish the young ones. I would like to see Saviola, Tevez, Messi, Higuain, Aguero and Pavone

I don't know that either Aguero or Messi are midfielders.
The problem is we have too many little guys, we need to find a formation that favors them, and pick the best ones, and not hesitate to bench them when they don't play well. So far, Aguero has not been a regular scorer.
