Ya know, I really don't know who any of you are, but I'm at Fado for just about every arsenal match. I'll be there for the games this weekend as well. I used to go to the horse, but Fado was a bit cheaper. Also, the nog is kinda weak, so i rarely go there. And for a heads up, Saint Steven's Green has opened up in the art museum area at 17th and green. (my 'hood) It's a joint venture between the owners of the horse and the bishop's collar. They were working on the setanta when I was in for the U20's. The matches will be shown downstairs, which is kind of like a nicer mini version of Nevada Smith's. There is a 52in tv but that's it. It'll be for when I'm running late and can't make it to fado in time.

I didn't know there were so many Gooners in PA!, not sure if my girlfriend would go on the drive down from State College to watch the Arsenal though

sounds like fun. surprisingly, theres actually quite a few arsenal supporters in the wilmington area.
...and another. I live off Silverside near 95.
I usually make due with FSC & GOL b/c I have three kids and my weekend activities revolve around them. Does Catherine Rooney's have Setanta?
(Mostly just lurk here. More of my energies are spent trying to get an MLS team to Philly over at the SoB thread.)

We live in the art museum area as well so a new place would be fantastic although I don't mind walking to Fado's. Let me know if you're going to be at Fado's on Sat/Sun....I think Hiddi is going to be there as n4100 is thinking about it as well....c'mon Nick.....

Rooney's has DirecTV, and therefore does have Setanta USA, as well as FSC and Gol. The only issue with going there is that they're not allowed to serve alcohol before 10 AM, so they don't open for the early matches except for special occasions, such as the League Cup Final last season. Other than that, it's a great place to watch a game, as there are several TVs, and they can all be tuned to different matches. The bartender, Terrance, is a friend of mine, and is very excited about establishing Rooney's as the football pub for NCC. Having moved to Baltimore last month, I'll be up there from time to time this season, but be sure to say hello to my good friends Josh & Dave who are there nearly every Saturday morning (and whenever Liverpool are playing).

I assume you guys are talking about pubs in Philly - well what if you are underage? can you still go in to watch the games? (really dumb question, I know)
see, I'm in college so I can't get the channels that show football (for obvious reasons), but the college is near Philly and was hoping to watch some of the weekend games live...

fado has never carded me in the past 4 years i guess i started watching games there. i think you are okay to go there in the morning till later afternoon maybe 6 or 7 maybe before they start carding. a couple other places are like that in philly but don't quote me. fado is on 15th and locust.

You're okay. I've seen people bring their kids a couple of times. Like it was said, though, that may change later in the evening, but it's still a restaurant so I doubt it.
