Carlos Vela to join Osasuna on loan next season. Reported so far. Remember he doesn't qualify for a work permit, but in Jan 08 is expected to get Spanish citizenship thus making him avaible to join us in the Jan transfer window.

True, Sky Sports had reported that he would be going to Spain on loan, but haven't seen anything else to back it up.

I doubt Wenger wants to send Merida on loan .. He can get some CC action this season and wasn't he already on the bench last season for a few games ?! He wouldn't have sent Vela if not for the work permit ..

Defender Kerrea Gilbert (http://www.arsenal.com/player.asp?thisNav=first+team&plid=60112&clid=4421&cpid=703) has today joined Southend United on loan for a six month spell.
Gilbert (20) spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, making 26 appearances for the Championships side. Prior to his spell with Cardiff, Kerrea made nine first team appearances in 2005/06 across all competitions and 16 Reserve team appearances.
Everyone at Arsenal FC would like to wish Kerrea the best of luck for his time with Southend.

Djourou made it to Soccernet's & Sky's team of the week .. And he played CB against LPool .. Must have been really good .. Couldn't watch the game though ..

He and Ridgewell were excellent. Djourou made one mistake all game and was almost punished for it, but hey, everyone makes mistakes - better to get them out the way playing for Birmingham.

So sounds like Djourou is doing a good job there at birmingham. Great! Can't wait to have another CB on the list as we currently are short. I dont even wanna think about Song being on the list.

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=485189&in_page_id=1779) is desperate to keep on-loan Arsenal starlet Johan Djourou for at least the rest of the season.
Bruce told the Daily Mirror: "The agreement was always until January. Nearer the time we will address it with Arsenal and Mr Wenger to see if there is any chance of Johan staying longer. I would love to sign him permanently - not just extend the loan. But I think I might be realistic."

No offence Steve, but f*ck off. You're lucky you've still got him until January considering he is needed here.

True. And with the African Nations Cup taking Kolo away for a month.....there's no way we should even be thinking about extending the loan.

Ya .. And Wenger specifically mentioned that Arsenal would benefit from Djourou's experience and that it would be invaluable when Kolo leaves for the ACN .. I think Wenger would dismiss a loan extension straight away .. But then again, even Song can play at CB [does he get called up for Cameroon NT ?!] so you'd never know .. ;)

In his first interview with the British media, Arsenal starlet Carlos Vela has exclusively told setantasports.com (http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2007/10/04/Premier-League-Vela-interview/) he is dreaming of copying Cesc Fabregas and becoming a hit at Emirates Stadium.
“My objective is to be a world icon like Cesc Fabregas, to learn thanks to Arsene Wenger, and to impose myself at Emirates Stadium,” Vela told setantasports.com.
“We have talked with Arsene Wenger, our relationship is good.
“I don’t know if he wants to watch me play in La Liga and then make me return to Arsenal, just ask him."
When asked if he planned to extend his stay in Spain rather than returning to Arsenal, he responded: "I live day by day. Today I am just focused on doing well for Osasuna.
“I want to do well in order to benefit from the chance I am given to play in La Liga.
“I don’t know if I am going to stay for more than one season.
“I am learning English and I think that I can speak it right now.”
.
.
“Osasuna have been the team that shown the most interest in me since the start,” he added.
“They are a solid team in La Liga that have experienced strikers and where I will be given the chance to prove myself.
“The team is young and I will be given the chance to improve. There is a lot of competition. At such a level, the best player will play and the one that will not work enough will remain in the stands.
“That is amazing how the team is together. As soon as I arrived I felt like I was part of the team since a long time.”

He seems to have the right attitude.
Now if Spain will just give him one sr. cap, I'll be super duper thrilled. :D
