I am 15 years old, and I'm trying to become a referee. I already have a seat reservered for me for a grade 9 course. I have years of experience as a player, and I've started my High Schools varsity games as a freshmen last year. Question: Am I to old and experienced to be starting at a grade 9? I eventually would like to become a Grade 8 anyway, so should I just take the Grade 8 course?

Take a grade 8 course. Thats where i started out, it worked fine for me. At grade 9 you're going to be dissapointed.

I certified at grade 08 when I was thirteen years old. You can do it no problem...just remember that your view of the game is different as referee than player (or coach or spectator).

It might be your state's requirement to take serve as a grade 9 for a certain amount of time. Here, it's 2 years. I sort of think it's anti-progressive and sort of does the opposite of what it intends to, so if possible, definitely go for your grade 8.
