Dennis Bergkamp deserves a mention. In his role for Arsenal I mean.
true he had wonderful skill and vision but did he play as a traditional #10 for arsenal? I always got the impression he was a forward.

I never thought of Bochini as ever being an even great player, but I suppose thats because of his being overshadowed by Maradona. No shame I suppose, but even in the games I've seen with him I thought that he had good skills, but not necessarily a world beater.
Bochini was a player similar in style to Riquelme today. Not much of an athlete, but a cerebral player with great vision. He was a superior passer and dribbler. While he was mainly an assist man, he was also a very capable goalscorer who seemed to score most of his goals in important matches and at important times.
Like Riquelme, he considered himself above running when the opponents had the ball. He didn't think it was the role of a creative player to chase after the ball. Once he was asked his opinion of Johan Cryuff, and he said, 'Great player, it's a shame that he runs so much.'
With Independiente Bochini won four Argentine titles, four Copas Libertadores and two intercontinental cups.
I won't repeat what ASF said so well about Bochini but the man was a truly gifted player that had the unfortune of playing behind El Diego in the national team. Had cable/satelite come around a lot sooner, more folks would realize how good Bochini really was. I also respect a player that spends his entire career with one club instead of taking the money and running off overseas.

I love the quote on Cryuff. Haven't heard that one before.

Never saw him live as I'm only 18, but my friend's dad(from Avellaneda) always talks about how great a player Bochini was.

i think you have to give bergkamp a shout because he had almost all the attributes of a traditional number 10. you can't fault him just because he learned how to play as a 2nd striker/forward.
totti is one of the greatest, for me. he might have flopped at wc02 and euro 04 but the fact he can play as a number 10(when zoff isn't the trainer), 2nd striker and lone striker(at the highest levels) should give him the nod.
