View Full Version : ESPN tearing down what MLS tried to build up

ESPN is going to ruin the whole 'Beckham' experience for any new fans trying to tune in. Some of the ridiculous cam views, mentions if he even moves, etc, it's nauseating. We joke about it, but it'll turn off a lot of people. Especially people who don't know what type of player he is, with all the mentions, they'll expect him to be a Michael Jordan type who is scoring and doing everything at all time, and when they don't see that happening, they say 'zzz, boring, *click*'

They don't even know the player they're marketing. After the game I checked ESPN again and their ticker said "Beckham: entered game in 79th minute, Did Not Score". Too funny. And then one ball in the middle of the field, the mic picks up some idiot screaming "take the shot!". He's Stockton, not Jordan. What do they care though, funny at the ASG, even out of his own mouth Beckham said it's very likely he wouldn't play at all, they kept running the "Source: Beckham will play Saturday" on the ticker, guess they had to after their that commercial that had Sat's date, care much more about their investment than the actual team

Also LA fans, okay, it was the first game, but quit the screaming on every touch, you come off as small town losers, makes mls look bad, act like you've been there before instead of being so starstruck

Pretty much summed up my thoughts. When DC plays LA I'll go ahead and watch a chinese feed instead of sitting through another suckfest. If they want to hype up the whole thing a little then, yeah, ok, that's business. But turning the whole thing into "Beckham and his peons vs Whoever" is a joke. I just feel sad for the real LA fans who have to deal with it.

Cheers have come at Wembley, the Bernabeu, Old Trafford and now the Home Depot Center.

Nothing wrong with that.
