A very, very sad day for soccer. My condolences to Foe's family, friends and teammates.
Btw, this will certainly have an effect of future (if any) Confed Cups.

it'll havr an effect upon how FIfa deals with injuries. I still remember Adam Taliferro's life being saved on the field at buckeye stadium after splitting his vertabrae near his neck. They were immediate in their response. This guy had to wait 5 minutes before getting real treatment. I mean they picked him up in a stretcher and carried him off the field

Where?
Anyway, I was at that game and it was one of the most frightening things I had ever seen. It didn't look that bad when it happened, but he just laid there, not moving... seconds turned into minutes. Scary.
When he came back, and walked on the field at Ohio Stadium, that was quite an emotional moment. Probably the first time a non-OSU player has gotten a standing O at that field.
Very unfortunate this event couldn't have a similar happy ending. I'm afraid to watch today's games on my TiVo - I'm not sure I want to see it given I know the unfortunate outcome.

I watched the whole thing on TV and it was orrible to watch. The way he just slide off the OSU player and on the ground and just lay there...horrible. But the trainers were there almost before the whistle blew the play dead and the setroid shot he recieved on the field saved his life. FIFA has to do something about this. I get the sick feeling that with immediate medical care, his life might have been saved. This is France for god sakes, a 1st world country with all the technology you need to save a person's life while playing a sport. How the hell does those trainers think that carrying a person in a stretches is the right thing to do when he isn't concious and his eyes are rolled up into the back of his head. FIFA is at fault here for not guarenteeing proper on the spot medical care and somone has to call them oput for this and sue the crap out of them so it never happens again

I can't express how sad this makes me. I feel the way I feel when I learned that the Taliban used a soccer stadium to hold public executions. Awful.

Simply awful. But, like others, I do want to know why real doctors weren't on the sidelines.

i got chills when i read the cnnsi report, which discusses the halftime statements made by Foe that this game was "do or die":

how spooky is that?
