He might be and he might not be, comparing great players of different times is difficult.
The problem is that people are ALWAYS stating without doubt, that all the classic players are the greatest ever and are way better than the current stars.
It's obvious that the greatness of past players compared to current ones is exaggerated, much like people tend to view everything that happened in the past in a positive light.
The great players of 20-50 years ago are considered more like some kind of amazing half-gods that no one can ever come close to.

The link was provided because of the comments you made in the top post. Two separate discussions and the link was provided so that you have an excellent thread to hear strong arguments both ways. Sorry if you took it as a flame, but as futile as this particular thread is, no need to change course. No harm no foul.

Zidane. I don't know that much about Riquelme, I know he is slow and has never risen during big occasions. Great players always rise in times of need. He plays in a lesser league (that being in Argentina). Maybe it is his dream to return to BOCA? for less money? in a lesser league? I don't think so. He fell out at Villarreal. A good/great set piece taker with good passing. Zidane was without question one of the best of all time. Riquelme, not so much.

is this a wind-up?
if you think riquelme can't cut it in europe, then you are greatly mistaken, imo

The part in bold that you wrote proves the statement that you made earlier (the one underlined).
It was his dream to return to Boca, just like it is the dream of Carlos Tevez and many others. The only reason they play in Europe to begin with is to make some $$ before they retire. It is always their dream to go back though so I dont know wtf your talking about

I don't think it's a wind up personally. I think it's just a poster showing that he or she knows very little about the game outside of a very limited exposure.

Zidane is better. Zidane has actually proven himself in the big games. In no way am i saying the Riquelme doesn't know how to play or score but he doesn't come through in big games. Thats why no big clubs will take him for very long.
Unlike Zizou

Yeah so true. Gotta admit though that Zidane never had the luxury of playing the majority of career with great players on great teams.

Pretty much all the credible footballing experts, analysts, legends are ignorant to think zidane is one of the all time greats while riquelme is not, but you with your track record of idiocy are not. What a joke.
This is one of the worst comparisons. A fairer one would be Riquelme vs Gerrard, Zidane and Riquelme are not on the same level on anything, accomplishments, talent, performances on big stages, leadership, compatibility playing with other big stars, etc.

I'm agree. Saying Zidane wasn't an extraordinary player in a different level could be an opinion, but I think is so distant that is more probably it's only a position to pretending more knowledge because "he's one of the few people who isn't in the ignorance" :p.
