I would still consider Zidane one of the top 5 CAMs of his generation.
The smartest and most sensible statement made so far. I think we should leave it at that.

You're reaching for sure newb. Go back and look at some of the threads on here from the World Cup. Read up and educate yourself before you start making silly claims. Fans and posters from all over the world were more or less in agreement about the greatness of that goal. Hell even real English fans unlike your plastic self shouted mad props for that goal. Go play now.
It was a great goal. but not as great as Zidane's. Go anywhere in the world to any football fan and mention Zidane and they will think of the 2002 goal vs Leverkusen.
And plastic? From a Argentina and Boca fan in Texas? stones, glass houses ...

Ok, but lets consider something.
At the age of 29 Zidane broke the world record transfer fee.
At the age of 29 Riquelme can not find any club in Europe willing to buy him.

Transfer fees are a useless indicator of player quality.

The USA beat Portgual on the biggest stage in the world; does that put Mcbride and Donovan on the level of Rui Costa and Figo? No, not at all.
no but it certaintly means that that US team was better than that Portugal team ;)

Your right, only the following clubs were interested:
AC Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, Bayern Munech, Zaragoza, Tottenham, Newcastle and some others
he didn't get transferred because he didn't want to play for them, he only wanted to play for Boca Juniors

Only biased Zidane lovers such as myself would consider his volley in 2002 better than MAxi's.

ok, and go anywhere in the world to any football fan and mention Maxi Rodriguez and they will think of that 2006 volley.
How this proves your point I have no clue.

I don't have a clue what do you wanna prove with that. Maybe that Zidane was over hyped by the media and Riquelme isn't?

At the age of 20, Denilson was transferred for £22m.
At the age of 24, Zidane was transferred for £3m.
Does that show us anything?

Chamions League or World Cup which has more prestige? You should start your very first thread based on these two goals and then you'll see that not everyone thinks. Stone house with glass windows mate. Immigration brought us to the good ol' US of A. Still own an apartment in BsAs (that's Buenos Aires) as well as a place in NYC. Coming from a good family is a nice thing. As for you being plastic? Maybe I was a bit out of line but you should really go back and read some of the posts on here from before you joined this site. You'll definitely gain some wisdom. You do know BigSoccer exsisted before you came on to enlighten us right?

I can't believe I'm defending Riquelme, but he did create the goal from the corner kick, and he was substituted due to a tactical change. He didn't play that well, but he did contribute.
So basically, your argument is that Zidane is "a big-game player", and the fact he did nothing in WC 2006 final doesn't discredit your argument?
As for the '98 final, the other team was significantly weakened mentally without their best player, and both of those Zidane goals came from Petit corners, who also scored the third, so the real best player of that game was Petit.
One of Zidane's goal actually came from Djorkaeff's corner.

Have you ever played football? Do you not realise how difficult it is to pull off Volley's like Mendieta's and Zidane's? especially when the ball is coming down from about 20 ft and you nail it in the top corner while contorting your whole body and even putting a bit of curl on it.
The thing that makes Zidane's volley stand out is that the ball is coming virtually down virtually vertically from about 20ft.
Let's also not forget that Zidane made his volley with his left-foot !!

I think we should keep in mind that Zidane is overrated, not trash, he is still one of the best CAMs in his generation.

Im not saying Riquelme is a bad player either, just Zidane was simply a superior footballer.
