I don't only watch European football, I also watch Mexican and Brazilian football, and of course I've seen Boca Juniors play, live actually. I never said no one in South America is any good. The fact that Riquelme played in South America proves that there are great players there. But to claim that Boca are on the level of the Champion's League winning Real Madrid side is nuts. It's pure stupidity.
ok I guess your right.
The fact that they beat that Real madrid team 2-1 in a final in front of millions watching on tv definetly means that they are not on the same level.
I must have been so stupid for thinking such a thing

wow, you should extend your footie knowledge outside of those 3 countries ;)
Because I disagree with you, I don't know football outside of three countries? OK.

Oh come off it, I have seen semi pro players pull that off by driving it into the top corner, a good goal gut nothing 'that' out of the ordinary. It does not compare to the technique and precision of the Zidane volley.
Curious, what the hell did he do in the 2006 World Cup Final? NOTHING.
Not to mention, the 1998 Final was against a Brazil team that was basically in a state of shock due to the fact that their best player (aside from Rivaldo) had an epileptic fit the night before the WC final.
You're drooling over Zidane on one goal. Look at Del Piero's backheel in one of the CL finals

Gerrard and Scholes score those for fun.
so because a player can score similar goals, that discredits the fact that its better than Zidane's??
ok well according to you, I can say I don't like Zidane's goal because other players can also do volleys
here's one for you:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=8VZ_P_GjMiU
and that one is 100 times better than Zidane's
Totti:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=jch5Flort3Q
and that's from an almost impossible angle. way better than Zidane's
or this

So Vollies like that is just something Totti does for fun.

What did Riquelme do? thats right he has never been past a world cup QF.
So now your making excuses for the Brazil team why? I thought Zidane did nothing in the 98 final (apart from scoring 2 goals).
lol @ comparing a backheel to a volley that came down from about 20ft.

I can't believe I'm defending Riquelme, but he did create the goal from the corner kick, and he was substituted due to a tactical change. He didn't play that well, but he did contribute.
So basically, your argument is that Zidane is "a big-game player", and the fact he did nothing in WC 2006 final doesn't discredit your argument?
As for the '98 final, the other team was significantly weakened mentally without their best player, and both of those Zidane goals came from Petit corners, who also scored the third, so the real best player of that game was Petit.

Maxi Rodriguez's volley against Mexico was way better than Zidane's.

By virtue of making a poor player like Diego Forlan look like a world class goal scorer, this argument should be settled:D

Have you ever played football? Do you not realise how difficult it is to pull off Volley's like Mendieta's and Zidane's? especially when the ball is coming down from about 20 ft and you nail it in the top corner while contorting your whole body and even putting a bit of curl on it.
The thing that makes Zidane's volley stand out is that the ball is coming virtually down virtually vertically from about 20ft.

ok, you will lose most of your credibility if you begin saying that Zidane's goal was better than Maxi's

Volley's like Maxi's against Mexico are common enough but volleys like Zidane's and Mendieta's are rare, only great players can pull it off. Lose credibility? come off it, Maxi even had time to chest it first.

Well what do you know? Great volleys by players you've never heard of and a few you have. You can certainly come up with something better to support your argument than volley goals. That's reaching and for the record many consider Maxi's goals to be not just the best WC goal ever but one of the best goals period. Keep on reaching mate.

You're reaching for sure newb. Go back and look at some of the threads on here from the World Cup. Read up and educate yourself before you start making silly claims. Fans and posters from all over the world were more or less in agreement about the greatness of that goal. Hell even real English fans unlike your plastic self shouted mad props for that goal. Go play now.

So that's why it was voted best goal of the world cup.
Although back on topic, I would still consider Zidane one of the top 5 CAMs of his generation.

The USA beat Portgual on the biggest stage in the world; does that put Mcbride and Donovan on the level of Rui Costa and Figo? No, not at all.
