Currently watching SkyNews at work, and their sources are reporting that Stan Kroenke is going to launch a "takeover bid" within DAYS. No link I know as it's on the telly, but am I the only one who's worried that someone like Fiszman will cave and he will increase his share? :(
Sorry to start a new thread, but I am seriously worried this will upset the balance of the team and indeed everything else this club holds dear (Arsene and the good board members).

Arsene's refusal to fill David Dein's position speaks volume to me. I know he gave out a reason but I'm not buying it.
I think he wouldn't mind the takeover and would probably sign an extension quickly after one.
I believe he wants Dein back and so do I.
However I do understand why the English want to keep Arsenal English.
Even if they say no this time, Kroenke is going to keep coming. This isn't going away.
I don't think this will have a negative effect on the club though, what had a negative effect on the club was the dumb board bouncing David Dein. Which unsettled everyone and cost the club it's iconic player.

I really don't think anyone is clueless. ARSENE KNOWS.
Seriously, though. Everyone who works at Arsenal from board members down to players know the deal and we as supporters all know how secretive Arsenal is about pretty much anything. It's no secret Yosemite Stan wants the team. But who really knows what's going on behind the scenes. We have to take anything the press says about the Arse with not just a grain but a huge-ass decanter of salt.
I don't think this will have a negative effect on the club though, what had a negative effect on the club was the dumb board bouncing David Dein. Which unsettled everyone and cost the club it's iconic player.
And I really doubt Thierry's absence is due to Dein being sacked. At the end of the day it comes down to money and fame. Most footballers, especially high-profile ones, don't play for a team after a while. They play for trophies. And duffel bags full of cash. It's not about loyalty.

And our great board just let the birthplace of the club die.
Why didn't they move it to the new stadium? That would have been sweet. They move historical buildings in the states all the time. I'm disappointed this happened.
Killed Highbury and now this. :(

I believe Thierry left because the board didn't invest in the team and fired Dein. From reading his quotes that is what I get. I don't think it was for the money, he was already making bags of it.

Lets wait and see. Sky were reporting on it this a.m. speculating that the takeover is imminent. They had the sports writer Darren Lewis, from the Daily Mirror on to give his knowledgeable:rolleyes: view.
The board now want to meet Kroenke, which suggests they might want to sell.... Err, pardon me, but didn't they always want to meet him ?
And apparently Kroenke doesn't need the support of the board to take over the club. Really ? What's he going to do, send in an elite task force to subdue the present members and hold the position until DD can take his seat.
Also Kroenke is presently buying up more shares. Is he? I wasn't aware of this, and I suspect it's rubbish.
Oh, he also mentions the 'lockdown' agreement that the board members signed stating they wouldn't sell any shares for 12 months. Apparently its very significant that he refused to sign it. Or it might be that as the lockdown agreement was for the current board members...

This has already been talked about, but do you understand why the 'dumb' board bounced David Dein ? If (and I do admit we're all going on unsubstantiated rumours here) he did what he did, what other option did they have ?

Well if it was on Sky News they have better things to worry about than Stan Kroenke, so the fact they are running the story before any website has makes me think this has substance.

I have to admit, at first I wanted the takeover to occur, but after this summer, just as we start to rally together and get back on track - this is the last thing we need right now.
Kroenke, stay away until wenger is gone - then we can start to think about it.
I've always been the cynic, and a takeover WILL happen, I just don't think now is the time.

Now the story has made SkySports website, still no quotes though. They do generally seem to be right about most things though:
Sky sources claim American businessman Stan Kroenke will launch an official takeover bid for Arsenal within days.
Kroenke Sports Enterprise (KSE) currently has a 12 per cent holding in the North London club after initially purchasing a 9.9 per cent stake in April.
He has already held talks with Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood and managing director Keith Edelman and has requested to meet other board members, which could signal the start of his bid to buy the club.
Paul Andrews, the executive vice-president and chief marketing officer of KSE, was remaining coy on whether Kroenke was considering increasing his stake in Arsenal when asked earlier this week.
He said: "We never comment on any future, possible investments of any kind. Each investment is evaluated based on its merit and it will be assessed on an ongoing basis."
Kroenke needs to reach 30 per cent before being obliged to launch a takeover, according to Stock Exchange rules.
He is expected to rapidly increase his holding in Arsenal over the coming days as he prepares to mount a formal takeover, which sources suggest is imminent.
The takeover is understood to value Arsenal at around £650million. The Gunners are currently worth in the region of £423million.
If Kroenke is successful, he will become the richest American owner of a Premier League club, surpassing Manchester United's Malcolm Glazer, and Aston Villa's Randy Lerner.
Kroenke already owns the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and MLS' Colorado Rapids, while he is part-owner of the NFL's St Louis Rams.

You really can't be serious here.
I have to admit, at first I wanted the takeover to occur, but after this summer, just as we start to rally together and get back on track - this is the last thing we need right now.
Kroenke, stay away until you've got Abramovich money and won't have to take a loan out to finance this takeover, strapping us with loads of debt when we already are a financially stable entity that will only get stronger - then we can start to think about it.
I've always been the cynic, and a takeover WILL happen, I just don't think now is the time.

Sky sources claim American businessman Stan Kroenke will launch an official takeover bid for Arsenal within days.
"Sources" hey, wow. Good old Sky there saying stuff with absolutly nothing to back it up.
Kroenke Sports Enterprise (KSE) currently has a 12 per cent holding in the North London club after initially purchasing a 9.9 per cent stake in April.
Ah ha, so Sky are basically saying nothing has changed since April. Right.
He has already held talks with Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood and managing director Keith Edelman and has requested to meet other board members, which could signal the start of his bid to buy the club.
Er nope, actually he refused to meet at first and still refuses to speak of his intentions which has unsettled the club. In fact Arsenal have been trying to find out his intentions for months.
Good to see they view it imply as an investment................can those people who want this takeover keep reading that statement until they get it in their heads.
Kroenke needs to reach 30 per cent before being obliged to launch a takeover, according to Stock Exchange rules.
He is expected to rapidly increase his holding in Arsenal over the coming days as he prepares to mount a formal takeover, which sources suggest is imminent.
Again no backing up and nothing to suggest that is really going to happen.
The takeover is understood to value Arsenal at around £650million. The Gunners are currently worth in the region of £423million.
Well actually if the shares bought recently are anything to go by, which is how you measure this - the club is worth about 650M GBP
If Kroenke is successful, he will become the richest American owner of a Premier League club, surpassing Manchester United's Malcolm Glazer, and Aston Villa's Randy Lerner.
And this is important why? Possibly as they need to put a few more lines in the story as the story is full of holes.
Kroenke already owns the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and MLS' Colorado Rapids, while he is part-owner of the NFL's St Louis Rams.
More background tuff
So all in all they are saying they have sources that they won't reveal or quote that says he will raise his stake. Even though the main person who could sell to him is at this moment no where near the ground, America or Kroenke.
This is basically Sky with nothing else newsworthy to fill their headlines.

oh jesus, please stop the "i hate the board" pity party.
do you have any idea of the cost of moving a building like that through the streets of London, let alone anywhere?
edit: this sounds worse then i want it to.
you just don't have to blame the board for everything!!!! :p

I have never read so much old shite in all the time I've been on this board. You've been told before,Dein tried to sell the family silver behind the family's back..that could not be allowed to happen....end of.
Thierry Henry had dissapeared up his own Khyber, and has given several reasons now for leaving,Dein,No big names,Wife, cook putting to much salt on his chips,he wanted to go the year before, regreted not going, had a shit season and panicked, and he will never be as happy as he was here.
As for Kronke I don't want him or any other Billionaire taking over the club, nationality is not an issue,Arsenal is about passion, not money, what does kronkite know about my team? I bet he knows the finance's inside out but I bet he couldn't name the 1971 Double side .
Wengers going nowhere,he's his own man,not Dein's.
So tell me why do you keep spouting the same negative Drivel ? if you don't like this club ,piss off,but your starting to sound like an old woman now

They destroyed Woolwich? That's impressive.
When Arsenal are still in the top of the Prem in 10 years time and competing for titles and trophys, it will be because the board took that actions it did.

Wow, so much hatred directed at someone who thinks Kroenke is a good idea? Those who say he isnt, what do you base your opinion on? None of us know anywhere near enough to say that he is bad news for the club. Personally, I dont think the current board are doing a bad job, but I am also not sure we can sustain even 4th place over the next few seasons at this rate. If we can tolerate that, then all is well. However, if we want to compete for the title, we may need investment. Of our investor options, why is Kroenke a bad one?

This has been gone over 100's of times. In simple basic terms he needs to borrow huge money to buy us. That debt will be put on the club and will have us going from being very stable financially to unstable. It can't be put more clearly than that. other than that, read my sig.
