Agreed, but frankly we need bodies now even more than we did before. So the way I look at it, we got Timmy Howard from the Mancs for less than he's worth; Smith at 8M quid will just even it up.

Official word is now at least 4 months, possibly up to six. Very bad.

Definitely puts getting another striker at the top of the priority list. I was reading where Jan Koller was being tracked by a few clubs. He would be, in my opinion, a good target man for us and might chip in with a few goals as well.

At least with the Lucho bid it confirms we have money to spend. Hopefully Moyes can pull one of his surprise loan signings like he's done in the past, possibly the Barca fella on a free. Koller would be interesting...

Koller would be interesting, but he's no target man.

In Dortmund he was misused as a target man and I think greatly limited his effectiveness. He's like Crouch, except older and stronger.

Would he be a good partner for AJ then? Or too similar?

Koller and AJ are similar in terms of their hairstyle. Other than that, not so much.

If memory serves, he's up there in terms of years (late 30s?). He does have European experience, but there has to be a better long-term option out there.

Oh no not even close :D

Koller is about as tall as LeBron James...AJ is about as tall as....me.

:o

I think his age and his wages will put people off. I reckon he'll spend his last playing days in Qatar. (He's 35 I believe, TB).

I agree and I think he'd be a short term rental. I wouldn't see us giving someone his age a long term deal.
