yes, i know this is extremely old news, but doesn't it surprise anyone that he's considered our lone all-star yet until last weekend he hadn't suited up for a game since may(only has seen time in 9 of our 15 games). he hasn't even been credited for a goal nor an assist this year (after racking up 6/4 last year).

as much as i hate to admit it, i just doesn't seem right.

ok enough hating.

Are there any all-star rosters that ever have any credibility?

All-Star games are about the most worthless things ever.

AGREED. I wish none would have made it especially the most worthy he nees a rest. He just got back from National team duty and we need him for the gsames that count. I wish they would hold the all star game after the season like the NFL

And what's the reasoning behind a Thursday night all-star game? If this thread didn't remind me that it was coming up I would have missed it. I thought it was a weekend afternoon game.

I'd rather have JB available in Seattle tonight ( now actually ) for the US Open Cup match.

Give Bornstein credit, he has earned this due to his accomplishment with the nats as well as his rookie of the year award from last year.

As for legitimacy, I have one word, Donovan.

No it does not surprise me. I voted for the guy to be on it!!! It's not as if he's been benched all season, he has been playing for our men's national team!!! Or I should say "my" and not "our" after reading that post where you wrote you hated the USMNT. Here it is...I took the liberty of reposting it. It was a response on the Mexico National Team thread to JoeMax. JoeMax was responding to Various Styles. Your quote is higlighted in Black.

just because i hate the USMNT doesnt mean i hate the US (minus the administration ).

Hating the USMNT is one thing but don't put that hate on your own Chivista just because he represented his country! Bornstein has proven himself, Rookie of the Year, most minutes played of a field player, he shut Lionel Messi down, he played great against Mexico in that friendly in Arizona which I had to pleasure to see in person! So it's not as if he's just been kicking back. I'm disappointed there is player hate about our own player on our own thread!!! It's enough to have to read it other places but when it hits home like this, it's pretty sad.

Here we go.....

No kidding...we could be discussing strippers (oops, exotic entertainers) and someone will turn the discussion into a political or social one. Can't we simply discuss our Goats for more than 4 or 5 consecutive posts?....Please?

im a chivas usa fan - this has nothing to do with the USMNT. you dont get elected to an MLS allstar team based on what you do internationally.

i know i already said i hate the USMNT, where did i deny it? it doesnt have anything to do with what we're talking about, so i have no clue why you even brought it up.

im not hating on bornstein. he's actually one of my favorite players. it just didnt seem legit to name him a starting allstar when he hasnt really showing anything on the pitch. rookie of the year yes (last year) this year nothing spectacular.

lol wtf are you talking about?

MLS All Stars won 2-0.

This isn't exactly a game report, but FCD keeper Dario Sala was doing some color commentary on Galavision and he said Burpo was one of the two nicest guys in the league. The other was Buddle.

You guys amaze me! You seem to think a player should be penalized because he's good enough to be selected to play for his national team, and has to miss some club games...

Then you say he hasn't scored as much this year as he did last year. Well, he's playing under a different coach! Maybe this one thinks all scoring should be done by attacking players like forwards (like he was during his playing days). Maybe he's been told to stay at home in the back, and limited in his opportunities to come forward...

His position is defense...and Chivas has done darn well in that area when he's been there....and so did the All-Stars.

never said bornstein should've been penalized. (actually i never expected so much drama to result from such a post. maybe its good considering this group is rather dead anyway.)

all im saying is that considering JB's only been present for a little more than half of the team's games, it would make sense that others (a la claudio suarez - who in my opinion is having a much better year...by far) get a nod. and yes, there's a new coach (bradley was the first to make him a defender) and that may have limited his attacking opportunities, which unfortunately may have made JB less dangerous in Preki's tactics. i would've loved to see him grow to be a Daniel Alves type player instead - allowing him to run that wing is something we could use.

nevermind, its the all star game. no big worry.
