I live in a small town in WI. One of the reason why i would want to move is to be closer to the city life. Then again i dont want to pay dc prices living in VA. HOw far is Dulles from DC and the good life. I cant get that type info on the net. SO you can see my predicament here. I have three kids and want them to be safe in a good school district and plan on renting a buying if i do move. for a 3 bedroom townhose that's 1400 sft i pay 800. so i guess i'm wondering how expensive housing is in that area. Again, thanks a lot for the info
Also, where i live is whiteville, nothing wrong with white people just that i like having diversity. I like all kinds of ethinc food and the such and i want to move away from WI too,

Expect to pay more than that!! I town house my buddies(3 of them) were renting out in the springfield area, were all paying 5xx each, renting with utilities. It was a tad dilapidated(sp.), but taht right there is close to 1600ish a month. Thats the downside like i said before about the NO. Va. area. Its a great area to raise kids in though! Our schools are great, And if you stay a little farther from DC the quality of life is better. Chantilly i'd reccomend for you go check out, Its nice, and Suburb'y yet is only 40mins from DC. The schools in chantilly are good too, like Chantilly HS. Its a good school, and im sure the elemantary schools are also. Overall i suggest you stay out in the Chantilly area if your a family man. Or you can check out the lorton area, thats where i live out here, and they are starting to building alot of plush townhouses and stuff, but maybe a little more than your budget can handle, but regardless i suggest to check that out too. I'm only 15mins from DC, but like probably 40 from dulles.

I live about 15-20 minutes (or 45 in rush hour) west of Dulles, Va. outside Leesburg - it takes us about 1 hour and 10 minutes to drive to RFK each weekend. For week-day games, you have to leave Loudoun County by 3 or you'll never make it in time to tailgate, but leaving by then, it is an easy trip into DC. DC is to the South and East of Dulles.
Dulles is a new made-up town, it used to be part of Sterling Va, you may be able to find more info looking up Sterling.
Jaime Moreno lives out that way somewhere too :D

wow $800 for a 3 room town home is like WOW.
Here is a scenerio.
I had a buddy of mine move about 35 -40 miles south of Washington DC. He moved into a 3 room newly built townhome with a deck and to top it off it was next to a nice lake. His home is worth 300K now
I used to live an a 3 room town home in Alexandria Va, next to old town and maybe 10 miles from DC. This town home was 30 years old, smaller than the one above.and right now its worth 400K
renting one room in Alexandria, Falls Church, or Arlington can be ask much as 900 a month, which does not include utilities.
but if your applying for a job here, its probably going to pay more than the job you had in WI (i am assuming here)
so overall that should compensate for some of the costs. I would be happy to show you around the area or do some research for you. PM me with any other questions you might have.

Wow dude!
As an assistant branch manager for a mortgage company, I can honestly tell you your not going to find what you seek, unless you decide to do one of those "Hybrid" or "MTA" loans, which end up having negative amortization.
Anyhow, the average price for town home have dropped alittle. You may find town homes as low as 300,000. Basically, you could be paying alittle less then 1900 a month, depending on credit or any down payment.
Foreclosure homes are harder deals to close now and days since the grand majority of them have little to no equity for the sellers banks to benefit from.
