so Mr. Quiad, if Beckham is so average in La Liga, why did Real's comback coincide exactly with his reinsertion into the squad? You must have not been watching much la liga, because his inspiration on the field and excellent service led them back to overtake barca :(. And why did England absolutely suck balls until he got back onto the field? Beckham not only is a great passer, reader of the game, and dead ball kicker, but excudes intangible qualities such as leadership and passion that raise his teammates to a higher level.
Average players don't play on teams like Man U and Real Madrid. You think Sir Alex and Capello play average players? Please answer this question, friend.

He's not even the best in MLS. Matter of fact, he might not be the best on his team.

Haha! Arsynic I see your a deciple of Beckham! Good for you! Haha! Well guess what! ... Like millions of other people in the soccer world I'm not! Had Beckham never played at ManU or Madrid chances are we never would have heard of him! I just do not happen to think he's a world class player or an all time English great & that's my personal opinion! I agree with Matt. Beckham is not even the best in the MLS which proves my point & that is he was an average nothing special player in Europe. Fergie from ManU knew it & that's why he sent Beckham packing. After the 2006 world cup England's manager Mac knew it also that's why he chose to drop Beckham from the squad but unlike ManU's Fergie who has backbone Mac is a jelly fish & relented & folded under media pressure when Beckham went & cried to the media about not being able to play for England. Not everyone believes all the media hype as the truth just so you know! I might only be 15 but at least I can read between the lines to understand Beckham going to America was not designed to help the sport grow here. It was designed to make some people an awful lot of money very quick like Beckham, the Galaxy owners & major profit holders' in the league of course! Pele attempted to make the sport grow here decades ago & by the way ... He was a million times better player than Beckham & it didn't work sorry to say. This Beckham circus will blow over much sooner than the Pele era did because most people are going to see right through it for what it really is!:D

Beckham best footy player in the world?
He's never been in the world footballer of the year catagory.
There are 100s of players out there with more ability than Becks (and i'm sure, being the model professional that he is, he'd be the first to admit it.) its his profile that Galaxy has invested in, to which there are very few sportsman (or women) on the face of the planet who demand as much of the spotlight that he does.
Galaxy managed to get him out-of-contract (which is a great capture for a small team like galaxy) so they got him on a free transfer. The worlds best players wouldn't be allowed to get anywhere near the end of their contracts without an extension being offered. It doesn't make good business sense to let some of the worlds best players leave ... let alone for free.
At best he's a passed master in the twilight of his playing career. Generally speaking players of his age no longer possess the physical attributes to be considered the full package.
Theres no doubt that he could still play for some of the bigger teams in europe, therefore the MLS should consider themselves lucky to have him.
For those who believe that europe is the strongest club level footballing contenant then the Ballon d'Or (or European Footballer of the year) award is probably the best indicator.
You can find it HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Footballer_of_the_Year)
The current holder is Real Madrid's Italian centre back Fabio Cannavaro. The fact that Real won La Liga this year and Italy won the World Cup probably helped.
tbh you couldn't say for certainty any player was the best current player due to the various positions. It would be more sensible to suggest a Dream Team.
I hope you Galaxy fans will be watching the England Vs Germany (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/soccer/europe/2007-08-15-england-beckham_N.htm) match wednesday, you'll get to see him in action for more than 10 mins (and see the whole reason why he's decided to rest up for so long.)

beckham was runner up in fifa world player of the year, twice....
hey Robbie Quaid. I don't think beckham is the best player. far from it. but to say he is an average european player, say a joey barton, is ridiculous. did you see the 1999 champions league final against munich? beckham playing in the middle, leading the comeback tirelessly? i hate real madrid, but look at the results beckham directly obtained when he came back against real sociedad? if he had never come back, my barca would have won la liga. and spanish fans have a high opinion of him, where technical skill is appriciated. i lived in barcelona/catalunya a year, and he is the one madrid player they seemed to respect, with iker casillas.

Haha! Ok Ok! Let's you & I call a peace truce on this Beckham issue. Like I've already said we all have opinions here & as far as I see things it's not a war of words. As for how I rate Beckham again, it's just my personal opinion & views & nothing else. When you look at just who he's had as teammates at ManU as well as at Madrid is what I'm trying to make my point on. I know I don't have to mention the greats he played with on both those sides but it's because he was lucky enough to be on these two sides in particular ManU when they had many great players' is what makes his profile out to be larger than life. I'm pretty sure had he spent those years playing on lower lesser known tams we wouldn't hear so much of him today. Yes he takes good free kicks' ... (Most of the time!) & yes he's good at passing & a team player but that's about it really! The way the American media goes on about how beautiful & perfect his every touch of the ball is in the MLS is what makes me laugh! All the corperate people behind his deal here in the MLS are going to keep ramming all this Beckham hype down the publics' throats as long as they can & ride it to death for all it's worth & sooner more than later it will fade away as fast as it came! What Beckham is doing in the MLS is nothing special actually. It's average soccer skills that are played out week in, week out in the powerful leagues all over Europe by countless players' in game after game & nobody over there raises an eyebrow over it. I on a personal level can say I don't hate Beckham. I just don't see what all the fuss is about out here beyond a quick hype machine created to make a few people, one of them being Beckham a huge amount of money where in the end the general public will be standing with their pant's down & wondering ... who turned out the lights! The same type of simple minded people that voted in that two bit action hero actor Arnold out here in sunny California to run the State are the same herd mentality sheep flocking to the Galaxy games right now to see what all the fuss is about so that sum's it up right there! There you have it! It's being played to script! Step right up folks! Come see the greatest show on Earth! Performed by the God of all soccer! & please don't forget to pay your two bit's at the gate as Posh need's a new face lift! Most important don't question anything as it's nothing but the truth! Remain quiet! Sit back & enjoy the show!:D

Haha! & another thing! Somebody here hit the nail right on the head & brought up a good point. Beckham above anything else was brought to the MLS for his image & no so much for his level of skills. That right there is the difference between this kickball league here the MLS & the big powerful leagues in Europe. Beckham fit's right in out here with his plastic Rodeo Drive look. In Europe club owners, managers, & most of all fans' really don't care about a player's image. Players' are judged on their skills alone & nothing else. You won't see a Zidane or a Rooney or a Tevez or a Drogba in a Disney movie with Beckham anytime soon but true fans' of the game don't care. They value these players' I've just mentioned for their far above average level of skills! This is why the MLS will never overtake or reach the quailty of skill found in the more powerful European leagues. The MLS is chasing an image while in Europe a player either can walk the walk or he's out! As for the person here that said Beckham could still play in Europe well, maybe in some leagues where the pace is slower & players' are allowed more time on the ball but he sure wouldn't last in the EPL now! He would spend the vast majority of his time on the injury list if he was in the EPL. The pace is much too fast for him. He's better off here in California breaking into films & drawing lookie loos to the Home Depot park for the next year or so as that's about as long as it's going to last. He's a paper icon, not a world class player!:D

... Had Beckham never played at ManU or Madrid chances are we never would have heard of him!
Exactly...
If he hadn't won the premier league 6 times, the FA cup twice, the Champions league, the Spanish supercopa and LaLiga...
we'd never have heard of him, would we.
Like that guy says on the telly... sometimes the comedy just writes itself. :D

Haha! The comedy is in your post! After reading it, it would leave one to believe Beckham won all those awards for those clubs' all by himself! Reality is though he did his own little bit part in those cups' & awards' your talking about it was the sides he was part of in those eras' that were made up of really great players' as a whole that won those awards! So there you have it! The truth! Reality as it really is! Now you can go catch the 6:00PM Mass at the Church of David Beckham & praise him all you want! By the way ... What did the great Beckham do for England today against Germany? ... The Answer! ... Not much! Haha! It was however good to see Michael Owen back on the pitch wearing the Three Lions' though! Man! Some people get so caught up in all this Beckham hype! Too funny!:D

Stop prefacing every post with Haha!
It makes you look like... correction, it makes you look even MORE of a retard.
The comedy is in your post! After reading it, it would leave one to believe Beckham won all those awards for those clubs' all by himself!
Where did I say that? It's common parlance to refer to players winning this and that competition. Only yourself and other members of the coalition of the permanently bewildered think it means what YOU think it means.

The truth, dipsh1t, is that you don't know the difference between your arse and your elbow.
By the way ... What did the great Beckham do for England today against Germany? ... The Answer! ... Not much!
S'funny!!! I thought you just made the point it's a team game and one player can't efect the outcome that much
Haha! It was however good to see Michael Owen back on the pitch wearing the Three Lions' though! Man! Some people get so caught up in all this Beckham hype! Too funny!:D
The reason we find these threads, (of which we've had many), so amusing is because they generally attract 2 types. Those who think Beckham can do no wrong and those who think he can do no right. BOTH groups know absolutely feck-all about football and only confirm their ignorance every time they post.
Beckham works incredibly hard, has a great engine, can tackle, gets into good positions both defensively and offensively, can deliver very accurate crosses/passes on the move and has one of the sweetest dead-ball right foots in world football from which his teams have scored many vital goals, some direct from free-kicks. The fact that he also has intangibles like 'leadership quality' is simply a bonus. He's a great player regardless of that. THAT'S why he's played for 2 of the biggest clubs in the world, idiot!!!
If you DON'T realise that makes him a good/great player all you're doing is making yourself look a twat of the first order.

Here Here! People just have to accept that in David Beckham they have a european quality player who could quite easily be plying his trade in europe. But you should not kid yourself into thinking he's the best player in the world. Once upon a time he may have competed for that honour, but now hes aging.
He's more like Footballing royalty (like Pele was) and the MLS are lucky to have him, not just for his skills and rep, but what he could teach the league as a whole.
Make no mistake he is the most highly trained player in the MLS. How many players have trained with 2 of the top, if not THE-TOP teams in the world and won 4 of the most prestigious titles in club football?
(The English FA, EPL, Champions league and La Liga, infact the only other comp worth winning, the Scudetto he never got a chance to, otherwise he'd have the best trophy cabinet in the world)
You'd be hard pushed to find any player with that pedigree let alone playing in the MLS... for LA Galaxy! (i bet they blow dryed that ink on the contract before he came to his senses lol)

Haha! Andy! Please take your Zoloft, there's no need to become vulgar with name calling! My response to your first response to my post was to hammer home a point & that is you really need to proof read your own post before posting them. Yes Beckham was on sides' that won the Premiership, FA Cup, Champions League & the lot but by no means was he the one standout that decided those moments' in those matches' Other players'. Great players' decided those moments' in those matches'. As I've already stated had Beckham been a member of some lower ranked team in either one of those leagues then chances are we would have hardly heard a peep about him. It's almost as idiotic as saying since Marco Materazzi play's for the world champions Italy then he must be a great outstanding player! Anybody with a brain clearly know's he's not a great player. He's just lucky enough to be a member of a world champion side. In reality he's nothing more than a foul mouthed hack who likes to bait others' & call them names & insults! ...(Is he related to you?) Anyway back to Beckham. He has no pace. My grandmother has more pace. He himself admits he has no left foot. He can pass well yes, he can cross well yes, he's quite good with free kicks' but that's about it! He's also prone to injury & most important ... He's no world class player! Never has been, never will be. He's not even the best player in that make shift kickball league out here they try to pass off as soccer. If anything Beckham is an image & that's about it & Beckham being in America won't change anything for soccer in the long run. You may now go to the corner, take your Zoloft & calm down thank you!:D

Sirs:
Methinks that Mr. Robbie Quaid took his team's call to arms seriously: "Up the Iron."
It appears that he thrust some iron up his arse, thus damaging his brain.
Do pray for the lad. Clearly, he is without his full faculties.
While it is possible that there is some meaning to his endless messages, searching for it would be futile. Indeed, it would be akin to searching for God's name in pi.
There it is.

Haha! No need to pray for me thanks! I'm not the religious type hoping & praying to a supernatural father figure in the sky who in reality is not there but ... Thank you for thinking about what's best for me anyway. If Beckham could ply his trade in Europe I think it's a fair bet to say it wouldn't be in England. At least in the EPL. The old man just doesn't have the pace or the fire in him to handle the pace of the EPL. He's now in the perfect place for him. Los Angeles/ Hollyweird! The land of fake, make believe icons! Funny thing is though with all the hype & hoopla out here around him he is in no way near being the best player in the MLS. I hope England will qualifiy for Euro 2008 as if they don't I'm pretty sure your paper soccer God Beckham will be sent packing with Mac with a sweet little message from the English FA which will read ... ( David Cruise Beckham, don't hold your breath, don't call us, we will call you ... Not!) I could be wrong but then again I could be right but then again what do I know? I'm just a mere 15 year old kid having a debate about an average nothing special over the hill wannabe movie star named Beckham with a bunch of middle aged blokes that have nothing better to do than pick on kids! Have a wonderful day!:D
