OK, I've seen lineups from the games against Bolton and ManU but only scores and scorers from the matches with Huddersfield and Crewe Alexandria.

Sadly, the 23s probably won't play again this year. Minus the pros who are in the U20 pool, I don't think there are enough 23s in MLS to make up a team and even if you tossed in the few Euros like Onyewu, Salyer and Casey, it's still not enough. The 23s need the college players to round out the roster so unless there is a tour in December with the college boys, they probably won't get together again till after the New Year.

Query:
How many of our U-23s on these tours are actually U-21? In fact, how about an age breakdown? (For that matter, how many are college studs, as opposed to professionals?)
I simply want a sense of whether our "pre-Olympics" squad (minus DMB, Landon and three overage players, obviously) team is actually outplaying their opponents, or largely relying on their physical development/attributes... I certainly remember "filling out" between my 21st and 23rd birthdays...
[Edited to add the following]
Looks like I found the start of an answer to my question...
"At this stage, the U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team is essentially an Under-21 team preparing for the 2004 Olympics in Athens. The U-23 roster for this trip featured eight players who were part of the U.S. Under-20 MNT that played in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina."

Sorry, I just saw the thread on the Crewe match, and that he did, indeed play one match on this tour. Perhaps that's all he could conveniently leave training with Liverpool for.

is it just me, or has the much chastised (on BS) Eskandrian (esp from Toulon last year) scored a lot of goals? Was Toulon just a bad tournament for the boy? Can anyone who's seen him play lately comment?

IIRC Eskandarian looked very good in Toulon. It was the U-20 finals where he struggled.

Yeah he did and that's great news. Recently no one has chastised him.....but we did light into him pretty good when he was with the U20s at the WYC because he was wildly inconsistent.

What's the 411 on Brian Carroll? I saw him for the first time last fall in a college game and he did not impress. IMHO, he didn't look like a pro prospect, but he seems to figure prominently now with the 23's.

For whatever reason, Carroll plays for Wake Forest, not a traditional soccer powerhouse. It could be that the talent level on his team is significantly lower than that of most other ACC teams and therefore he doesn't shine in college even though he is very good individually.

Thanks, Elninho. Guess that means even more to be proud about...
And, yes, Eskandarian (of UVa) HAS been raising his level of play recently. Now, if only he'd turn pro already!

Yea, he would look good in a DC United uniform next year.
