David Beckham's Soccer USA To Debut July 25

Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment and Major League Soccer’s Soccer United Marketing arm are teaming up to produce David Beckham’s Soccer USA, a 30-minute show that will air in the United States and around the world.

The show will debut next Wednesday, July 25, on Fox Soccer Channel, kicking off a 13-episode run. It will also be syndicated worldwide, with initial deals including Channel 5 in the United Kingdom, where it will air in prime time.

Hosted by U.K. television personality Natalie Pinkham, the show will follow Beckham in his first season with Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy.

Great news. Maybe MLS can leverage this into getting more TV rights fees for MLS broadcasts overseas

This could actually be great thing for MLS. A behind the scenes, intimate look at not only Beckham's time in the league but the league itself.

This should help dispels many misconceptions about the league such as level of play, how it operates, it being a "retirement league". People who before just perceive the league based one heresay and ignorance will be able to see how it works and that the players here play hard, with a higher skill level than they thought, and that the league is thoroughly professional.

Additionally, if the show is only going to go to Beckham games, foreign show watchers will never see single half-empty stadium. Every game they'll see will be sold out.

He's ... um... going to the Galaxy.

We're... um... confirming the stereotype. :o

But we're not alone!!! We have Chicago and RSL and Colorado right there w/ us!!!

This show is being shown in primetime in the UK as well, starting next wednesday. If you like Soccer AM, Tim Lovejoy is involved with this project, as well as a few of the Soccer AM underlings.
