Hey falvo do you have anymore pictures of George dressed in his Earthquakes uniform I'm working on a project that you'll be able to see next year at whatever stadium our Earthquakes will be playing at. Thanks and I really apreciate that buddy. ;)

Other than the pics I've pretty much posted, I don't really have many more. I'll keep trying to post them as much as possible.

As Goodsport posted in this thread......
Yet another George Best book posted 09 Nov 2007,
http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=620311
I'm not involved this time around, so no shameless self-promotion, but Ron Gilmore shows up for about two pages worth of quotes. Excellent stories from both Chris Dangerfield and Dave Payne as well. More good stuff about Best's time with the Quakes.
Get it.

That's the ball. I recognize the autographs right away... Mine also has autographs of players who were not on the '79 team. At the reunion, I was able to get many to sign it, some of whom never actually used that particular ball. Purists might suggest that I devalued the ball by doing that, but I don't really care....the ball is valuable to me and that's all that matters.
I agree with you regarding the significance of the NASL. The younger people sometimes don't acknowledge what that was all about. Yes, it ultimately failed, but those years did establish a modern baseline for pro soccer in the US. There were many who saw that pro soccer could survive, even flourish, if managed correctly. There are disagreements about what constitutes good management, but MLS has addressed many of the problems that doomed the NASL.
If the stadium or field is to be named after a person, I would prefer that it be someone who is instrumental in the stadium construction and not a player or coach.
If it were not for the original NASL "SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES", who knows what sport I would support. Soccer/football/futeball/fussball is a game for everyone...not just the tree-tall round-baller or roadblock sized lineman.
I will follow the Quakes no matter where in the world I may be at the time (thanks to the Internet).
As far as names go...get a big name sponsor to pay for those rights and then names a portion of the stands for the person or entity, like the do in other stadia (i.e. the Cobbold Stand, Greene King Stand, etc at Portman Road, Ipswich).
BTW-the George Best Stand at the (sponsor) Epicenter would be okay, right?
