Since every once in a while there's a new nation to join the select club of WC winners, what team do you think that deserve or will be the next new world champion? Please lets be rational and vote with no personal bias, ok? ;)
My vote: Holland

I think Holland will win 2006
and some African team will win 2010

I'm a US fan but I also like Holland so there is an unavoidable bias here and I agree that Holland will probably be the next World Champion. There is just too much skill and talent in that country for them to go without winning a World Cup much longer. They were rather unfortunate to run into two home countries at the World Cup in the 70's when they had their classic teams. But one day the stars will be in perfect alignment and Holland will become World Champions.
Great idea for a thread by the way. :)

Really tough to say. Holland would be a definate favourite in my mind. But I wouldn't leave out a chance of an African nation or even Turkey...
I always seem to tip Spain for something, and they always let me down, so I'll leave them out of this equation...

Holland, then Spain or the USA. Rest assured, both of them will have their World Cups eventually. As soon as Spain stops breaking my heart every four years, and when the US has a midfield to write home about.

This is hard. I want to say the USA but I think an African nation (most likely Cameroon) will win a World Cup pretty soon.

Spain & Holland.... seemed to be the most likely candidate. however, they often choked on the big stage.
USA will be world champion someday, but it could be in 10 to 20 years time.

I don't think any of these countries will win it in 2006. Maybe Spain will get it together though but hell, the just lost to my Greeks in Euro qualifying. but you never ever know. Holland have a good squad but i wonder if the will EVER win on the big stage. And African team is definetly in the mix, Nigeria, Cameroon maybe. But they won't win until 2010 at least. The US will win it when they can get a back four together and a midfield that will be unbreakable. They win in 3 World Cups from now. My prediction for the next World Cup however is for Germany to win just because FIFA will want them to win to keep up with Brazil winning their 5th World Cup. Crazy conspiracy huh? Plus it's in Germany. But i'm sure i'm wrong.

Holland. Maybe even in 2006. They always seem to do well when tournaments are held in Germany.

I voted Spain, but Holland or an African country - probably Cameroon or Nigeria - are also realistic.
If the cup winners club doesn't grow in the next 20 years, the US could be ready to legitimately contend by then if development continues. And hell, if China's development continues, they could even have a shot by then, with a billion people to draw from.

Africa has several teams with potential. Cameroon, Senegal, and Nigeria have all shown promise. With the WC in South Africa, the home team has a chance. Japan, Korea, France, and the USA all had their best opportunities when hosting the tourneys.

It's hard to tell. Probably no one new in Gemany 06, as the cup will probably go to the hosts.
If by chance the Germans should that slip and the existing powers don't cash in, then Holland or Turkey could probably take advantage as their games should have near-home-town support.
By 2010 it's anybody's guess. There could be new powers emerged by that point. Maybe USA or any one of South Africa, Cameroon, Senegal, Nigeria.

I think it could be Holland, Spain or an African team.
I don't think Turkey can make that far.
