We know Angel is suspended.

Altidore should be back.

I would anticipate Jaime is out (no sense risking a hammy on that turf).

(just kicking it off...)

If our boyz go to the swamp and make it even more stinky, Soehn has got serious trouble on his hands and should be concerned for his job. Has he lost the players or can he just not motivate them? Also, Houston's fitness made us look like fat camp participants out for a jog. Where's the level of fitness we had under Nowak? Finally, Soehn needs to keep his mouth shut to the press about the play of individual players -- I think it is most definitely backfiring on him!

Pick it up, Tommy-boy, if you want to be a pinball wizard. [/poetic license]

The former dcunited in charge at the swamp need to be beaten down again on Sunday, but the way we are playing, I'd almost be happy with a point. Waitaminute! This is vs TFKAM, nothing but three points will do!!!

if Namoff is healthy I'd like to see the following lineup:

------------perkins------------
mctavish---boswell---vanney---namoff
--------------olsen------------------
fred--------------------------gros
-------------gomez--------------
------moreno--------emilio--------

I think Mctavish has done well enough to be in the starting 11 on a regular basis. Maybe right back is not his best spot, but if he gets beat he's got some pretty good recovery skills as we saw against kc. If Namoff is healthy push gros back into the midfield where he can be more effective. Carroll deserves to be benched for a couple games. If Namoff isnt healthy then the usual lineup could work with simms as d-mid

Not even close, GM. Tommy gets at least a full year, unless we really start sliding out of playoff contention (or, er, in case Bruce Arena suddenly becomes available because the Pink Cows want Fabio Cappello).

Quick Atlantic Cup question: Do the away-goal tiebreakers for Atlantic Cup get waived because because of imbalance in NY-DC home-aways this year? Not sure if and how rules get amended, since it's a supporter's competition and not a league cup.

And if no Moreno?

Do you start Adderly?

Do you start Adderly?

My preferred pecking order for strikers not named Moreno or Emilio currently is:
Kpene
Addlery
Dyachenko
Mupier
North

I'd start Kpene. I know he had a poor match against Dallas, but I just like his workrate and creativity combined with Emilio. He's like a poor-man's young Jaime...Did that even make sense?

You're kidding, right?
It is in NO WAY a Supporter's competition. Absolutely no DC Supporter cares about that cup - we absolutely care that we beat NJ every single time, but the cup is a meaningless league-invented piece of tin. I believe it is gathering dust in the Elephant room, which is more respect than it deserves.

This is a huge game in my opinion. This month, we went into KC, sucked and won - We went into Houston, were interesting, and lost by 1 (not bad) - then we went up to Pennsyltucky and were embarrassed - then started off good against Dallas, but lost concentration and blew that game - so a result at RFK North is VERY important at this juncture.

We need points.

We don't need one of these:

I'm glad to be a DC United fan, we have the most creative threads in MLS, always so inventive in how we trash our opponents..

I'm with the Kpene group, although he is coming back from an injury and didn't seem to have the flow of the game real well. I would give him a half, then put Addlery in and see how he does. Addlery brings a physical element but not the ball skills, but if he develops the ball skills then he'll be Brian Ching type with more speed and would give our offense a totally new look.

Good call, though I'm thinking:
Kpene
Dyachenko
Addlery
Mupier
North.

Meh.

Posh still needs Cheetos.

We'll still take the Swamp.

CSC will still be penile infections.

And United will win.

Again.

Ben Olsen is out due to yellow card suspension. Moreno is most likely out too.

Me don't like the looks of this. I base this on our pretty poor road form anyway, but two of our most influential players will be missing.

I'd be thrilled with a point in all honesty.

What. The. Fcuk.

?!?!?

Ben isn't out for caution accumulation--he didn't pick one up against FCD. See: http://web.mlsnet.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?year=2007&week=0715

Somebody's playing silly buggers. According to his stat sheet, he only has four. See: http://dcunited.mlsnet.com/players/bio.jsp?team=t103&player=olsen_b&playerId=ols177981&statType=current

I don't know. This will be my fourth match at RFK North. Our record is 3-0, with two 4-2 wins and a 1-0 win in the playoffs. So based on that, I predict D.C. 3, Metro Cows 1.3333333.

Do we not get full points if we give up a fraction of a goal?

Well, Ben certainly thinks he's out of the match according to his interview on Comcast this afternoon where he stated "it looks like they won't get my three goals this time."

He seemed pretty sure he wasn't going to play.

That's fine, but when the hell did he pick up that fifth yellow? I don't mind MLS suspending him for five yellows if that's what he's got, but you can color me as major-league confused as to when that happened.

If they're assessing a card ex post facto, it'd be nice if they said something about it.

From the MLSnet.com suspension page:

Updated: July 17, 2007

Suspensions/Fine

Ben Olsen
D.C. United
Suspension/Fine: 7/22/07 vs. New York Red Bulls; $250
Reason: 5 cautions

I thought he picked one up in front of the Nest/Barra, there were a series of grabs, tugs, and other assaults on Jamie, causing him to lose the ball. And Ben thought that retaliation was in order.
