Not all is stormclouds for Arrowhead's summer tenant. KC is still second in the West. First place SJ is playing well below standard having lost at home for the first time this year to LA in OT of the USOC 1-0. I beleive even if KC drops games in DC and Chicago, (which they might given travel, fatigue, and injuries) they should be in a good spot to lock up a playoff birth well before the end of the regular season. Any road points right now would be a bonus on so many levels.
The USOC is ahead with Milwaukee awaiting us in the quarters. The Galaxy would be next and we have beaten them this season. No reason it will not happen again. Dallas or Columbus in the final seems winable enough.
There is still the most remote opportunity to turn around the 6-1 scoreline. Stranger things have happened in sports. In the UEFA Cup every year somebody turns around one of those type scores to progress. Every year.
Other bright spots: Fabbro is back and apparently good to go. Igor will be rested. Both are better with eachother. Gutierrez will be rested and back in time for the bulk of the important games. I have great faith in Talley's ability to heal quickly and hopefully Quill's knee is better than feared. I'm hoping Brunt's steel will find a way to harden under the fire he will continue to face the rest of this year. Preki is way overdue to score. I'm sure Tony is pissed and he plays better when he is.
C'mon Blue, pick up the pieces and go get DC!
