The fan atmosphere has been extremely positive as well as the way the Canadians have treated opposing teams.
The 'joga bonito' and 'unbreakable defense' shown by Chile has also been remarkable;) .
I say we do this after the WC though cause the WC aint over yet...(at least for us, the Austrians, Czechs, and our neighbors, the Argies).
Let's discuss about the semis for now...Im nervous as hell because Argentina is simply awesome.

I could name a lot of negatives but its okay you would just say I'm trying to make it look like the World is against us. Which I'm not. Canada has good fans I'll just say that.

Positives:
1. Very good crowd turnout in all cities - the optics look bad for Edmonton however as their 30,000 or less crowds look sparse in the huge Commonwealth stadium. Still looks likely to beat Mexico's record turnout - not bad for a nation which does not have soccer even close to its number one sport.
2. Some good games and wonderful teams - Chile, Argentina, Mexico.
3. Huge upswing in soccer coverage in Canada. I never thought I'd live to see the day that I would be able to listen to our U20 team on the radio at my very remote cottage in central Alberta (national radio broadcast of Canada vs Chile on July 1st). Major stories in all the newspapers. Lots of TV coverage.
4. Web access to all games.
Negatives:
1. Canada's very poor performance. Notwithstanding the fact that 2 of 4 semi finalists were in Canada's Group A, their lacklustre 3 and out with no goals was disgraceful considering the prep that has gone into this team.
2. Poor turnout in the largest stadium, Commonwealth in Edmonton. See Negative #1 for the main reason, although the local organizing committee also got caught with their pants down in the first game(s) there.
3. Portugal's meltdown in front of the world. Very poor sports indeed!!
4. CBC coverage seems to be focussed on diving. They should be focussing on why our U20's pooped the bed.
Overall, I think FIFA will be very pleased with the turnout and Canada should be a lock for an upcoming WWC. Even a real WC is possible, as we would need 8 host cities with large stadiums. The issue would be whether the new generation turf could be used for the full WC games. If so, putting turf in our large (Cdn football - not soccer) stadiums would be quite feasible in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. Add Edmonton and you have 8 decent venues with a minimum of upgrades.

the turf looked absolutely horrible. Football should just not be played in those conditions.

I thought the turf was excellent I didn't see any major problems with it at all.
Negatives:
The misinformation given by the Toronto(Toronto Star) ewspapers whand took 3 days to post the score of Chile vs Congo while Canada's scores were always up to date no matter how late the games were.
They also messed up the GF or GA which caused them to make huge mistakes such as saying Costa Rica went through instead of Brazil.

My real negative is the poor planning by the soccer commitee who decided where the matches would be played!!!
Why is the U-20 final in a stadium that can only host 20 000 people? Why not in the Skydome or somewhere else?
I've been to all the matches in Montreal, and attendances were roughly this:
- Opening day: Sold Out (55 000 tickets for two matches)
- Day #2 (35 000 tickets for two matches, weekday)
- Day #3 (35 000 tickets for two matches, weekday)
- Day #4 only one match Portual vs Gambia (28 000 tickets)
- 1/8 finals: Mexico vs Congo (42 000 tickets)
- 1/4 finals: Chile vs Nigeria (46 000 tickets)
So the matches in the Olympic Stadium total an overall of approx 240 000 tickets sold for the U-20. Had all the cities gotten that many people for their matches, the total amount of tickets sold for the Canadian U-20 would be slightly over 1.5 million, which is certainly not bad for that said category!
I'm sort of annoyed Edmonton got a semi-final match, where I bet not even 30 000 people showed up!!!

^- Skydome turf is pretty bad and I bet that the Blue Jays' mlb schedule was already released prior.
The Commonwealth stadium is pretty huge, it can expand to over 70,000...so it just seemed empty.
A lot of positives, so I will just list the small amount of negatives, in my opinion.
- The somewhat unusual high amount of diving
- Country Canada's coverage...No scoreboard or even half-time coverage.
- Lack of coverage by the major sports networks in Canada, other then 1-5 minute blurbs about the tournament
- A couple of the refs seemed be taking over the game...brutal calls

Positives:
- Streaming Online
- Tonight we broke the record for attendance in any U20
- Having the tournament in Canada, where we desparately needed some awareness of the game
- Living within a 15 minute walk of BMO Field (postive for me at least)
- Having a multicultural city means cheering for every team
Negatives:
- CBC cutting out parts of the game for a newscast
- Other media giving it no more than a swift glance
- Having huge stadiums and only filling a portion (i.e Edmonton)
- Spreading the games over different tv stations (requiring digital cable / satellite subscriptions to watch some of them)
I won't even get into some of the reffing and behaviour of some teams (anyone caught diving should be sat in the corner and given a time-out until they are ready to say they're sorry for being so immature)
But looking forward to the future when we may get the chance to hold the FIFA Senior World Cup :)

I think the negative just happened. Chilean players get tasered.
I doubt Isla was tasered, he probably dived.
Positives .. attendance ... BMO field ... Vidangossy (hopefully not tasered) ...

Positive: Chilean NT and most of chilean fans.
And obviously some big stadium.
Negative: the 2 european refs (the english and the german), and "security" guards yesterday (they are simply CRIMINALS).

Nope. Anybody with half a brain knows you never put your hands on a cop. Once the Chilean players started grabbing and pushing cops they were lucky that they didn't have to be surgically removed from the sidewalk.

Positve Sergio Aguero is the man.
Negative Fifa, for not allowing camcorders in the stadium. Luckily I got a lil footage during the begining..
