It sounds like it's actually Pompey and Rangers. Most likely surrounding the Boumsong and Faye transfers.

I've been on about this crap for months....mostly to resounding neg reps....the corruption amongst British managers in the EPL is endemic, and has been for years.....

Boumsong moved on a free transfer to Rangers in the summer, then was somehow sold to Newcastle in January for 8.5 mil. Allegedly Rangers received little of that money. Whomever did receive that money probably had a knock on their door this morning.
