FSC ran a match last evening between Arsenal and Man U in a cup final from 1979. Being a referee nearly ruined it for me :)
Pass back to the keeper and he was able to pick it up!
Offside being called when the offending player was no where near involved in play (defender intercepted the pass!).
It was very interesting in that foul recognition was nearly the same as in today's game, they were just way more forgiving when it came to issuing cautions. A couple hard fouls and pushing scrums that would be very easy cautions in today's game went by without so much as a word from the CR.
Very interesting to see how much the game has changed... and how much it hasn't. If you get a chance to see this game or others from that era, I would highly recommend it.
