It's my favorite because it has a promotion/rel system and you can play as many as 11 games (10 friendlies, 1 league) a week, possibly more if you get invited to a friend's friendly league. And it really is free. The only thing you have to pay for if you want to pay extra to make a friendly league, or see a 2-dimensional play of all your games (the free games are text based), or if you want to join a cup where you get prizes.

Oh a helpful hint if you do eventually register for managerzone, don't cheat because they are relentless in hunting down cheaters. That means don't make more than one account! And also, when you sign up and are confused or just want tips on how to manage ur team, go to the "sportsbar" on the top row and then the "forums" on the side menu.

I still play SundayLeague, if only for its comical value. I tried ManagerZone, and it just didn't do it for me. I play HatTrick now, which is similar to MZ, but to me it's more user friendly.

Tried ManagerZone as well but didn't hold up for long. Footiemanager is very good and addictive. The system even has a fictional newspaper complete with all the rumors and footie gossip in the leagues written by the users. Clean Interface and straightforward:

The area is split into a premier account (paid service) and the free account. I'm on the free of course, but considering premier. The free game is pretty robust by itself. The premier has plenty more options such as:
