OK, we've got the Yanagisawa thread but I thought we could start a thread for the other transfer moves for this summer.

Let's start it off....

Zenoni from Juventus has been loaned for one year after Moggi and Marotta met last night in Turin.

As mentioned in the other thread (in addition to Yanagisawa), Doni has signed from Atalanta and Diana from Parma (he was on load to Reggina this year). Antonini and Donati are also on the way from Milan. And Colombo is also coming from Atalanta, according to RAI teletext.

Christian Zenoni on loan from Juve for next season.

Another really good move.

I'm sorry, but I'd have to disagree on that one. Did you watch Zenoni play this season? For Samp's sake I hope he stays on the bench. He was atrocious.

Actually I hadn't seen him since I got to Juve. When at Atalanta he looked pretty good, probably the lack of playing time hurt him.

Its not all wine and roses when you move to a big club.

Latest rumor:

Mendieta to Samp as reported on Rai UNO. Got this from a Danish Samp guy, so no more than that.

That's interesting.... Barca passed on the opportunity to keep Mendieta so he returns to Lazio who still owns him.

I wonder if they're trying to buy him or get him on loan. None the less, I think it was be a great pickup for Samp.

Would be a great move for Samp, I think on loan as well.

Bit of a recap
06/25/2003. Sampdoria have been the world's biggest transfer market player of this entire month.

After securing the arrivals of Yanagisawa, Donati, Doni, and Diana yesterday, the Genoa club sealed off the one year loan deal of Cristian Zenoni from Juventus early this morning.

Zenoni, who found really little playing time in Marcello Lippi's Juventus, was reported as being extremely happy for the sucessful conclusion of this deal.

06/27/2003. Sampdoria's Shopping Frenzy Continues

Sampdoria Genoa have ended a whirlwind week by announcing that Giulio Falcone has become their sixth acquisition in preparation for their Serie A return.

"I don't know what Sampdoria can aim for this season," but I am certain this is an ambitious club that has proved it can move on the market along with the big sides," said the 29-year-old defender upon signing a two-year deal from Bologna.

Since the beginning of the week, Samp have completed the captures of Cristiano Doni (Atalanta), Cristian Zenoni (Juventus), Massimo Donati (Milan), Aimo Diana (Parma) and Japanese prospect Atsushi Yanagisawa (Kashima Antlers).

This has to be the most amazing transfer moves in Italy and maybe Europe, and stories out of Genova say they aren't done.

One bit of bad news is that Gasbarroni will not be at Sampdoria next season as Juve have loaned him to Palermo.

My avatar? You mean Marc-Vivien Foe?

Just paying my respects to a player I admired. Don't forget that I'm also a City fan and was looking forward to Foe making a permanent move to City this summer. He was great for the team and was also a great person.

Just paying my respects.

Not the Foé avatar, the one before. Nice job on this one.

Great player, great person, and former Hammer.

At the bottom of this article, it mentions that Samp has gotten Massimo Marazzina on loan from Chievo. Possibly a good pick-up. He was on good enough form at the start of last season that he earned a callup to the national team. But he's pretty erratic.

Two smaller acquisitions to report:

Keeper Emmanuele Bianchi from Lucchese and defender Moris Carrozzieri from Teramo while Bonomi has been sent to Reggiana. Is this the Claudio Bonomi of Castel di Sangro fame? If so, I didn't realize he was still at Samp. Was he out on loan last year? Anyway, he's gone now.

BTW, speaking of Castel di Sangro and the earlier Lucchese mention, that's where Osvaldo Jaconi coached this past season although he's been replaced. Talk about a journeyman. I'm sure he'll hitch on somewhere next year in the fraternal world of Italian coaching.
