theres another fastfood chain in France its called "Quick restaurant" (its french) thats where I go most of the time... then theres KFC and subway too but not Burger king. when you watch TV thats when you see the americanization... US shows always get the best ratings like CSI Las vegas, 24, the sopranos... and in prime time. thats all people watch here
No, Quick is Belgian. ;)
And the US TV series get the best ratings because they ARE the best. :D Would you really compare Louis la brocante or Plus belle la vie with Nip/Tuck, ER or West Wing ?!

I used to love ER the first few seasons. Also watched 3 or 4 seasons worth
of West Wing, but they both got old after a while.

Any French cookbook suggestions?
How about French restaurants throughout the USA?
I have tried tons of various styles of food, but somehow have
always missed French cuisine.
Both of my parents are excellent French cooks and swear by Julia Child's cookbooks. Julia Child lived in France in St Paul de Vence, near where my parents stay now when they go over there, and though she was American her cookbooks are legendary.
The Michelin Guide is probably the best tool for finding good French restaurants in the US.

The only problem with that link is it is only for NYC and SF, I guess
Chicago is no mans land, a la "Mad Max Beyond ThunderDome".
I found over 120 French restaurants in Chicago and it's suburbs.

but it has like six meat patties!
in any case, why eat at macdo or quik, when there are a billion sandwich grec places around - it's just as expensive (includes a drink!) and far better

I always thought the "macdo" nickname for McDonalds was funny :D . The first time I heard my dad call it that I was thinking "what?!"

In Nice there's no real kebabs. Only snacks with pizzas or paninis. I hate paninis.
We have socca. :)

Don't listen to them. When things come to food, all those losers west of the Vosges are hopeless.

If you come here one day, don't make that kind of joke ... or you'll finish your tourist trip in the Rhine wearing cement shoes.

the best meal I had when I was in France was at a Moroccan restaurant in Rouen. it had L'Etoile in the name, that is about all I remember. lots of wine, tons of couscous and assorted meats, and some calvados to end the night. it was awesome!

at first, i thought so, but upon looking at the map it is too far west.
using Google Maps, i believe it is this place, called L'Etoile D'Or
http://www.fra.cityvox.fr/restaurants_rouen/l-etoile-d-or_200059340/Profil-Lieu
but i can read any of that website!
the satellite map on Google Maps helped. because I remember the location and there is a good crepe place just south on Rue du Pere Adam.
